In a similar way as CCP made EVE Online growth and prosper for over a decade the plan is the same for DUST 514 and in a similar way as with EVE, expand platforms in the future beyond the initial PS3 version. The EP is responsible for reconciling business and creative needs to create an inspirational product with successful business model. This position will lead overall development and will work closely with publishing and operations activities for DUST 514. The EP is responsible for the overall success of the title. The Executive Producer will need to build and lead strong teams of senior people from across the project in order to develop, communicate and execute the creative vision and business plans for DUST 514. As the key business leader for the project, the Executive Producer maintains a strategic focus on the overall goals of the project and a long term perspective in respect to creativity, quality, budget and timelines.

I'm perfect for it. I fit almost all the criteria and exceed many.
Right now I have a pretty good job but depending on what they have to offer and how free a hand an Executive Producer has, I'd be interested in moving to CCP.

Brandon Laurino promised the vita app two years ago! Not saying I'd ever use the app but its a classic example of awful expectation management. Maybe he didn't know what his team was working on and he had bad leadership skills. Anyone know what he did before this job? On the plus side, whoever they hire can't be much worse. Alternately it sure does feel like a sinking ship at this point. |

I'm going to apply as soon as I come home, I donGÇÖt have the "10+ years", but I have 22 years of gaming experience and a very high level of education in informationtechnology. I donGÇÖt think that I stand any chance, but I love to try, did it a couple of times with blizzard and bioware. Always loved the way they replayed :).
Everyone should try (a serious motivation letter and curriculum vitae) just for the experience and fun ;).

With nothing to show from the old guy at least the new hire can only do better. I'll pray for his/her success.
Is it just me, or was the purpose of an executive producer to give the developing teams a direction??? If he left, its probably because he couldn't handle his job correctly. |

I wonder if Brandon Laurino is leaving CCP or just moving to another role.
I thought he had a lot of great ideas. It's a shame that a large chunk of what he said was coming up for Dust at Fanfest never actually materialized (PVE, Arena's, streaming to the EVE client, MTACs)

I just don't understand how people view this as a "sinking ship" though. I mean..... from the start the game was (to my knowledge) completely funded by EVE online profits. Now they make pretty good money off AUR which, if im not mistaken, many many people have bought the elite pack. Sure, maybe were not covering the costs of this game, but to be fair we never have been, and that's not the point of this game. This isn't a short term investment, its a long term investment so when you say this is like a "sinking ship" I cant help but imagine that this is a massive Nimitz class carrier with a few pin hole leaks that just need the maintenance staff to patch them up eventually.
In short..... If CCP is still serious about their vision, then the game will go on. More then anything right now, I think the game needs new players (and a lot of them) to help balance things out. The only way to get new players is to start advertising like crazy. But I don't think they want to advertise a game that they no is nowhere near being complete (in terms of core features). My bet is that by Christmas they should have had their next major release, and hopefully, right around then will start seeing add campaigns flinging up. They can even work with sony on this and be on the TV saying things like "yeahhh we know many of you are buying a PS4 and that's totally fine!!! Just remember that we got awesome games like Dust 514 on the PS3 that are also great" or something like that. Idk.... im dead tired right now so maybe im just rambling. |

Mr. Bling Blingszinski is an *******. Really I mean it, if this one becomes the new EP, I'm gone! I am really gone! You have no idea what kind of person he is, and I'm somehow happy to know that he does not fit in the CCP philosophy. This is the kind of person how would ban all the used games from the market and make the gaming industry a "milking the client industry". ItGÇÖs just not about making money; this is an art-industry! Of course you need to make some money to pay the people working in it, but making money and milking the consumer as much as humanly possible are two big differences. I have read a lot of his tweets and let me tell you that this guy is extremely selfish and self-oriented.
There are two kinds of games this guy would do: Fist is a game with a HUGE budged, because he needs a gigantic budget to make something nearly what mid be a fun game. The other thing is like I mentioned before would be a milking game, where you have to buy the jump and run ability because in a FPS this things are GÇ£optionalGÇ¥ and you would be amazed what kind of ideas this guy have to charge you.

Oh wow, see this is why i should read the forums and just avoid the minefield of twats because this is golden.
So, we can deduce that Dust514 is rudderless right now, this is why decisions arnt being made and progress is hidden and veiled because it is likely that without that single lead, nothing is really being approved.
CCP as a company have failed if they have allowed this lack of a leader to be the downfall of an entire product and as someone from exec leadership in a blue chip firm, i am gobsmacked they advertised it publicly. You shake the entire confidence of a products customer base by doing this.

(pretty funny tho - wonder what it would pay (no im wholey unqualified for this) but would assume it would have to be around the $250,000 to $300,000 PA mark with package and options......

CCP does not pay as much as other competitors. Options could be a house or apartment owned/paid through CCP, as well as a certain % of the yearGÇÖs profit.
In fact the salary could be "smaller" because it's a profit deal salary, meaning that the major part of your salary is generated through the yearGÇÖs profit of the game. High risk, high chances.

Look, the situation is simple.
This should have been an instanced version of PLANETSIDE2 instead of a coin-op version of halo.
The lack of a real economy has kittened everything, including AURUM and planetary conquest.
History has shown gun game can be average if the economy works and in this case the economy needs to be a smooth integration of planetary ownership/community/AURUM/EVE integration.
If this existed I would probably still complain about the bad features in game but I would be doing it while online killing people with AURUM level gear and secretly enjoying myself.
Right now I just come for the XP and the hope it will someday get good, but I think I've lost faith that it will happen before I get hooked on something else.
What this means is Planetside2 will now beat them to the punch on PS4 and their community is going to dry up and move on. |
