merc packs and boosters
make them go across our accounts as far as bpo's and boosters are concerned i believe alot more people would be willing to purchase them if they weren't just tied to one character
this is something a lot of other games already do and it makes them a ton of money just from those purchases
optional respecs
charge 5 bucks for a respec as an adult i realized along time ago time is money and nothing comes for free give us free respects when say there is a lot of new content that is released say one free respec every 6 months and if we wish to respect between those 6 months then charge us a small fee don't believe to many people myself included would argue with that as it is taking time up for the dev's to give us the respec and that is time they could be working on other projects
bpo's
if ccp made bpo's and packages for more then just merc items say basic advanced and prototype bpo's also vehicle bpo's those alone would sell extramly well
now before you bust my chops everyone knows eve will have more of a connection to dust and eve players will be able to send isk to dust players either directly or via corp wallet now i personally am an ex eve player and dust player so i know just the ridiculous amounts of isk you can make in eve and with that option eventually coming and with corps already proto stomping this feature wont make or break the game you would still need the skills to wear the gear its just broadening a system already in dust 514
example caldari raven bpo has skill requirements to wear the suit same with sever logistics by no means am i rec amending making a proto bpo and have 0 sp requirement on it
i personaly would love to see other peoples ideas and i hope ccp incorporates them into the game as they will help support or game
have a great and wonderful day

oooookay. A couple of points. First of all, these are product development, game mechanics and balancing suggestions, not marketing (though admittedly product development is sometimes handled by marketing, I would be very surprised if this was the case in this situation).
Second of all, these are terrible ideas to improve revenue generation. I'll address each idea individually.
1. Merc Packs and Boosters - I haven't heard a single person complain about how boosters are a "rip off", which indicates to me that they are fairly priced for what they provide. Following from this, it seems to me that purchases wouldn't necessarily increase by providing greater value. Without seeing sales figures, it seems that people are currently quite happy to purchase boosters, which indicates that this would hinder CCPs ability to generate revenue, as it limits purchases to one per person, as opposed to maybe 2 or 3 per person for the people that this matters greatly to. I don't have any personal objections to this idea, but in terms of revenue generation, this will quite clearly diminish the number of boosters sold. Introducing another, more expensive, booster that encompasses other characters on the same account might be worth pursuing, however.
2. Optional respecs - This would dilute the sandbox premise and mechanics of the game. The fact that decisions in skill point allocations have lasting impacts on how your character is shaped and your effectiveness adds to the value proposition of this game. This is part of what helps differentiate dust from other games, and would probably hurt it in the long run. Even though this may increase revenue initially, it would reduce the overall brand equity of the game and potentially result in less overall players long term.
3. BPOs - Advanced and prototype BPOs would break this game for the reasons listed in #2. Brand equity and value proposition would be diluted, reducing the appeal of the premise of the game, leading to less players over time. If people could run around with free prototype suits, this would break the game as there would no longer be (or to a lesser extent) the feeling of loss when you die, giving people no reason to run anything but the prototype variants leading to everyone using prototype at every opportunity. This is against what CCP have stated they are trying to achieve. |
