Its a useful tool for baiting people into your RE traps. everybody sees the beam and knows exactly where to rush. Boom. Inside its optimum the damage is OK. 60-80m if you can keep your enemy's inside that kill box the gun can be quite good.
I think just increasing that optimum would add a bit more versatility to it without making it ultra deadly. 30m-80m. That way you still are crap inside an AR's optimal , but you can now get off that roof and do something useful from time to time.
They did remove the glare, so if aiming was your reason for dropping it before, try it again, headshots are pretty easy to get.
My only current gripe: Explosives are insta popping armor tanking mercs. If that is by design then the laser needs to be insta popping sheild tankers again. there is your fix to the flay-contact-driver right there.
it was never really OP in chromo, all we had were shield tanking suits so everybody was countered by the laser.

Is it just me or does your ads speed slow down when you use armor plates? I like to spawn in first with my adv elm suit, get down uplinks and ammo (R) in my laser platforms. When I die I bring in my big gun, and I usually stack a few complex plates on it. Seems like the aiming changes.
I would love to see some variants, I'm pretty solid at tracking from the hip in closer ranges, it feels awesome. But does 0 dmg.
Does any body know how to calculate the dmg? I'm thinking it's something like. Base dmg x time holding beam^2 |

I use a gal logi with it. The amarr bonus, should be a bonus not a req. Range tested on a turret is 65-85 with a pretty sharp falloff in both directions. I specced gal so I could have large armor numbers. I have yet to lose a 1v1 against other lasers. It just doesn't happen often enough. This was my thought process when uprising hit. I thought my biggest enemy would have been other lasers. Oops.
I also have a scout+adv basic frame that I pull out in situations/maps where the side arm useful. Otherwise I use RE's
I would love to see damage numbers. What is it's potential dmg per cycle. Figuring it out in combat is difficult because it is so inconsistent. Hard to test. |
