I started this game because I love the idea of piloting dropships and being a medic (logi) on a battlefield. I hear all the time ppl raging against this or that. So I thought instead of listening to gossip I'd try it for myself, here's my insights:
HAV's. Yes I've been on the receiving end of a tank rolling through objectives slaughtering everyone. So infantry cry OP and CCP ups the AV. But have you considered it from the tanks point of view?
Its a hell of a lot of SP to spend into just getting a standard HAV with turrets and decent systems. you may look at the vast PG, armour and slots they have and think its too much, but I've struggled to even put basic equipment into it (and being a pilot I have good systems to start with!) - so you up the core systems which take more SP. and nearly half the slots get used to up the PG/CPU so those need upgrading. Its never ending! and if you want an enforcer its vastly more SP - not just for the tank but also because it needs better system upgrades and protection to be on par with the standard ones. if you were to factor this SP into a dedicated infantry AV im sure the unsupported tank in combat situations wouldn't stand up to it for long. and for a hell of a lot less ISK!
So of course tanks hide in the hills. of course they're upset when their repair system turns out to be faulty and about to be reduced and AV gets upped. For goodness sake support your tanks - call in threats if you have a mic, go with them to give them supporting fire and would it kill you to have a vehicle with a shield transfer mod? just like in the vids! it works wonders!
Honestly, try it yourself if you can, even if its just a militia tank, and see for yourself how difficult it is to equip. (although its a better idea if you can get the AUR ones but I can't ask you to do that, the principle is the same though)
I guess what I'm trying to say is that its easy to say its not fair. I hate having to go toe to toe with a proto assault in my adv gear / getting blasted in the face with exotic weapons. but we cant just shout out that its not fair unless we can see it from both sides and help make this game fair for everyone.

There is considerable debate regarding AV being over-powered. However, I have been on the field where tanks are fairly successful in their effort to avoid being destroyed even when our team has dedicated AV of the Proto variety. In short, tanks should not be indestructible by any means. No one should be able to go 30-0 "just because" you are in a tank. It should only be highly skilled tankers who pull of those kinds of numbers.
I'd have to disagree - I only have access to militia forge gun and heavy armour and I can seriously mess up about 7/10 tanks. (at about 4,000 ISK its a steal) the tanks that are able to survive this and other more proficient AV'ers have invested an awful lot into making it that tough.
I'm just saying to everyone keep an open mind and not just say something is overpowered. Think of what has been invested |

So they drive their tank through the war barge like a giant McDonalds drive through? interesting idea |
