Let me say that CCP, you guys are doing a wonderful job with what you're accomplishing with DUST 514 and EVE Online. I mean really most companies don't actually take an established IP and try to expand on it through different means. What you guys have here is a wonder vision, interlinking two games on two different platforms to bring two different type of gamers together in the same persistent universe.
What many people don't realize, or fail to see, is that this game is meant to survive. EVE Online has been around for ten years, and through it all has been improved on and improved on until we see what we have today. Just like EVE, Dust will be a game made for longevity and will be improved on monthly - yearly.
In my personal opinion it's a bit unfair to compare a game that's meant to survive through the years to games that are throw away games. Nearly every year a new Call of Duty or Battlefield comes out, the only thing that changes in those games? The scenery. The game play stays the same and is pretty stagnate.
This game isn't even out of it's infancy, seeing how CCP handled EVE Online, everyone should be content with the progress that they're made thus far, and by being content, I mean by providing actual feed back to the developers, rather than ranging that something was ninja nerfed or nerfed in general. I'm pretty sure the developers read the feed back given by the community and tries their best to fix the problem. Some may think that the previous build / update was better than the current, and vice versa. Either way you look at it, the game gets fixed and improved on... and won't be what we're all expecting it to be right off the bat.
It's going to take years for it to be that one triple A shooter we've been waiting for.
So with that... I say, thank you CCP. Thank you for bringing trying something no other gaming company has tried to do, and keep up the good work.

Naturally, my reply to this sort of question would be "If they can't deal with it. Then they should just bug off." Though rather than that, it's more or less along the lines of "Wait a year, come back, see if you like the changes that were made. If not... play it for a couple of months then leave again. Rinse, repeat." |
