My hazy understanding is that people have to gain X number of warpoints in a match to do an orbital strike.
But do they have to pay ISK as well?
I've been singularly targeted with one a few times and - given how you have to pay for even a basic LAV now, it seems frankly dumb that a 98% fatal attack costs the attacker nothing at all. |

Absolutely not. Precision strikes are determined by the points accumulated by squad. 2500 I believe. So it doesn't "cost" anything beside exceptional performance on field. |

There's nothing there that requires exceptional performance. You just need warpoints. |

Teamwork makes the Dream Work.
Best thing to do, be a resourceful Squad Leader or have one. Constantly assign orders at key locations or Defend Orders on Key Players/Locations. Also, have your Squad Mates Paint Snipers and approaching enemies.
Your Squad Leader needs to stay alert to make the most out of their position. |

No ISK cost. All that the Dread Cannon needs in order to fire is the harvested souls of your enemies. |

Warpoints are a reflection of your performance. How is it not? If your WPs are high, you feel that you had a good game, which equates a good performance. smh |

I have once, but that was more luck than anything. |

If your WPs are high, you feel that you had a good game, which equates a good performance. smh Of course you feel you've had a good game if your WP is high - confirmation bias means you wont pause and think 'actually, did I really do all that well myself, or was it all the equipment and chance circumstance?'. People, by default, don't attempt to undermine their theories. Particularly the self flattering ones.
The whole thing almost seems a celebration of confirmation bias "Hae, we have trophy for you who get so many points! But hae, why wait till end of match - have trophy now! Oh, trophy is also BFG! Oh hae, you use trophy to kill even more guys - proves you deserve trophy even more because circular logic is logic that's circular!"
Warpoints can come from simply having better equipment and larger numbers and pure bums on seats. But this is the sort of idea that undermines self flattery, so it's not going to sink in of course.
Not to mention whether in a mercenary match it actually costs the eve pilot money to provide a bombardment. In which case it does cost ISK (and would explain why the pilot can decline to grant a bombardment) |

The ammo costs approximately 800 isk. Orbital bombardment ammo is cheap. Even the ship is cheap, as usually a disposable destroyer is used.
