ok; where to start from. I am a closed beta vet since May of last year(ie beginning of replication). Lots has changed in all ways (as title states). This isn't meant to be "feedback", but a thread to enlighten those who haven't been around the block, or possibly gives CCP & CPM member insight as to things that should be checked out ASAP ....
The Good:
+ Uprising Updates (however what the updates entail will NOT fall in the good category): simply shows, like a special child, they are trying
+ Added "some" new content : content was added, however to infrequently and totally unbalanced
+ E3 & Codex were a lot of fun, even w/ the bugs
+ "New" Maps/textures : cool, if only didn't have graphical glitches
+ Slowly addressing problems: addressing them, yet slowly
+ Special Events: probably the only good stable feature given by CCP
The Bad:
- not enough content
- not a AAA game by any means
- basic gameplay features (of a released game) aren't comparable to beta/alpha stages of real AAA shooters
- still not enough game modes
- not enough players per game mode
- server instability
- Still not player trading
- Still no corp armory
- Still now real balance to the game (via guns, suits, vehicles, etc)
The UGLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :
- Massive decrease in player count based on poor development decision
- Developmental decision/fixes aren't being done in proper priority
- CCP still stuck on their fantasy/idea of the Dust should be, and not listening to current experience players.
- CCP "listens to much" to beginner players on what isn't working
- Balance only seems to be based on pub play, not PC play (pubs need to be accounted for, but yeah...)
- To much, is coming soon. Need a timelime of actual dates like Planetside 2 has done.
- CPM candidates were based on IRC love from the devs, yet only 1-2 actually brought something to the table. Realize this i CPM 0, however CPM shouldnt be running on how to make CPM 1 better, but make the function of the game better, which in turn will allow better transition for CPM 1
- Major gameplay imbalances of weapons, vehicles, av, suits, passives bonuses, skill tree
- Game is a total grind w/o a reward or fun factor ... IE game is monotonous
At this point, myself on others (from w/in corp and the game) have given up on playing Dust. However, i'd say we all would like to see Dust actually succeed (and come back) and be the game we all enjoyed playing back in last summers E3 build. CCP just needs a hard kick in the ass to show them the direction they are going, and the direction they need to go. This starts with the community not being fanboys(girls), and telling it to them straight. Next would be the CPM to literally annoy CCP till the point they get heard (and get the changes done, not down the road), and can show them that they need to reevaluate their progression of the game. Getting core features fixed will keep players around, and possibly bring back those who left
Ex: 1.4 is when the good stuff comes; well that is what 2 months away now. That means its 2 months closer till ps4, which brings along PS2, and BF4 and other games.
All in all, like many other i'm done w/ actively playing, but still want this game to succeed, and i think if the developers clearly see whats wrong, things can get fixed; even if it means going to the community to help them in where CCP themselves are ineffective |

Nice OP.
In World War II in response to the disastrous loss of material at Dunkink the UK undertook a massive drive for increased war production.
For three months it soared, month on month.
Then it fell, and fell and fell again as fatigue, accidents and equipment burnout took its toll.
To me the parallels to Dust are clear. CCP are going to try to have monthly updates, but as the low hanging fruit turns into slow - or no hanging fruit the accidents and burnouts will occur.
And then they get hit with the PS4. Then some new game, then another one and another.
Yes, Dust can make it to ten years. An easy trick when it doesn't have to pay its own way. |
