Late last night, I was getting tuckered out with sitting in front of the TV playing so I put the controller down with the 'local' chat tab up so I could chuckle at the other mercs ripping this immature player a new one. Then I noticed a strange character join the chat... I say strange cause instead of a default mercenary avatar it was actually a person avatar (never played EVE I didn't know what this was). But yeah, turns out to be an EVE character in a Dust chat.
I click on her profile and see she's apart of a corp and I curiously apply to the corporation to see whats going on. Within seconds I'm invited to chat by another character (The CEO of the corporation).
I accept.
Now I'm in a chat with about 8-9 other characters each with different avatars and what not.
Turns out this way my first time connecting with EVE and it was their first time connecting with Dust. They were a pacifist crew corporation set on exploring New Eden entirely. But as a bonus they're role players... as in, they are the characters they made for the game. It sounded really silly to me but the more they began to talk and question why me, 'Cryson' a violent merc would want to be apart of a pacifist corporation I started thinking... Who is Cryson Toxli... I began to ponder his story and why he does the things he does.
The captain/commander/whatever you want to call him was honestly extremely nice. Explaining that I could stay as long as I was a medic for the other mercs planet side and never attempted to kill anyone. He went on to say my curiosity probably landed me here and this isn't for me.
I agreed.
He asked me who I was, assuming I was another role player so... I told him.
I'm Cryson Toxli, a shallow mercenary of Caldari State. I fight for no ideals. I don't care about whats right and wrong. All I want is to partner with big corps for big pay checks.
He as well as the rest of his crew respected that, wished me the best and said goodbye.
It was neat to play like that. I'm not too big on it still but the feeling my character has a story and not just another faceless fighter its kinda cool.
I was wondering if anyone has ever played like this and interacted with other players doing so?
