And saying game is "unfinished" is a EXCUSE. Say that to a mmo game. But this is not. Its not a traditional fps game, but far from being a mmo.
10 years plans on ps3.
10 year plans then to go to ps4. unless i didn't notice somewhere where they are moving to ps4 quicker.
*but people still play Play station 2!*
To those people.. congratulations. you are the 1%.
these are just a few points that we mentioned we could have mentioned more but the vid would have been longer, but you make a good point |

I also say Linux with a short i. I also don't quote the full six digit amount of sp but instead round it up to the nearest thousand. Why? Because I understand the proper pronunication of an i in most countries outside of the U.S. and Britain and I am otherwise NOT a ******* pedantic assburgers nerd. If CCP wanted it called five one four then they should have written it correctly with either dashes or at least a space. 5 1 4 or 5-1-4. Otherwise I'll say it the same way I say the number in any other context.

Okay, but is this really what's important here? On topic (am I the first one?), I really liked the vid and agree with almost all of the points made. But sadly, such is the state of the current gaming press, that if something either grab them in the first 30 minutes, or isn't incredibly hyped, then they won't give it a second thought. Dust certainly takes time and patience to get into, but the current gaming media is unwilling to put that forward and see the positives of Dust.

I have also heard this game being called Sh*t, Boll*cks, w*nk, cack, unfinished, half-baked, unbalanced, gunk, flawed, rubbish, arse, broken and doomed. None of which sound like five one four but are all basically in the ball park and again any man will not find himself grudged by me when applying his moniker of choice.
Yet here we all are still
The review scores were on the money. The reasons for those scores were just so misinformed and the funniest thing is that if they had known anything about DUST they would have given even lower scores because of large chunks of missing content! Lol!
This game is still in beta, it just got given full release to mark CCP's anniversary which is a shame but hey ho that's the way it is. Unfortunately release means reviews and with a game like this that does not lend itself well to snapshot reviews due to its complexity, it was never going to fare well in its current incomplete form.
A mistake from CCP? For sure. Fatal in the long term? I don't think so, CCP didn't exactly push the PR boat out on release. I don't think they are too concerned about boosting player numbers right now because the game is still work in progress. When they have a polished, content rich game after our current "beta" phase we may then witness the PR machine in full swing whether on PS3 or its rebirth for PS4

You can't play this game for two days and have a review. It's impossible. This is something that takes some time to understand or at least you have to dig your heels in order to give an unbiased review of the game.
Some IGN editor got real pissed because I had a difference in opinion. I told him that Dust 514 is just not something you pick up, play for a short while and then write a review. Also it helps to note that so many people are so in fused in their muscle memory and quality of game expectancy due to COD and BF, that they instantly dismiss Dust without knowing why they did so.
Now if you tell them this, they instantly respond back negatively to you. It's like talking with a guy that said Dust is so laggy and had the nerve to say that COD is not laggy. I'm laughed hysterically. Are you crazy?
Dust 514 got plenty of things to work on but by far its the best FPS, IMO, out there that offers so much in terms of its broad scope. Looking at it narrowly will only limit your gaming experience with this sci fi shooter/mmorpg hybrid.
OMG someone with a difference in opinion..... god help you

You can't play this game for two days and have a review. It's impossible. This is something that takes some time to understand or at least you have to dig your heels in order to give an unbiased review of the game. It's a shallow arcade shooter with little to no tactical elements, 5 (terrible) maps, two elementary game modes, and bland gun play. What the hell is there to possibly need to play more than a few hours to figure out? Quote:Some IGN editor got real pissed because I had a difference in opinion. Now if you tell them this, they instantly respond back negatively to you. It's like talking with a guy that said Dust is so laggy and had the nerve to say that COD is not laggy. I'm laughed hysterically. Are you crazy? There is absolutely no comparison between the two. CoD runs so much smoother than Dust 514 that it's laughable to even suggest otherwise. CoD is still a bit of a mess, but it's miles ahead of Dust 514 as far as stability is concerned. I mean come on, give me a break dude. How far up CCP's rear end do you have your head shoved? Quote:Dust 514 got plenty of things to work on but by far its the best FPS, IMO, out there that offers so much in terms of its broad scope. It's a shallow, simplistic, run and gun, arcade lobby shooter.

You are so trolly. How is it a shallow non tactical game? Do you even PC? I have had some very tactical games that requried strategy, not arcadey shooter.
I've played PC, and I've seen plenty of videos of other's playing PC. PC is almost always an uplink spam-fest with a rush to the hill and everyone using the FOTM. The only "strategy" is when two bad teams that don't understand how to do well in PC go up against one another. Quote: And no COD doesn't run smoother. Hit detection is a problem. It's laggy. You can't see that because you have gamed for so long on it that you compensate for its failures.
nonsense. First off, I'm not a CoD player. I've played it, but not enough to ever be considered a fan or to give me a reason to "compensate for it's failures." I could easily spin the argument and say that the fact that you think the hit detection and lag in Dust 514 are any better just shows how YOU are conpensating for Dust 514's failures. I mean really, there's just no comparison. How many players do you see get disconnected or lag out of EVERY SINGLE MATCH in Dust 514? It's a constant and pervasive problem. Anyone who's spent any time with both games is going to laugh at your assessment, because it's a joke. Quote:COD is absolutely terrible when it comes to online connectivity with their servers.
And the in depth I'm talking about is the meta game. Seriously, stop trolling. You sound just as silly as the IGN reviewer.
Ok, I had enough of the troll bait...I'm full now.
Hey, if someone disagrees with you, they must be a "troll" amirite? Seriously, grow up. The "depth" of the meta game could be applied to literally any game ever. You play Dust 514, so you understand it's meta game. If you were a big tiddlywinks player, you would tell us about the depth of the tiddlywinks meta game. If you were a competitive nose picker, you'd tell us about the depth of the nose picking meta game. Dust 514 is a simplistic and shallow lobby shooter. The only "depth" is that which you fabricate yourself. There's nothing deep or special happening with the game itself, because they aren't doing anything new.
and yet here you are trollololing ....get back under your bridge troll |

If your argument sucks, and you've got nothing of value to add to the discussion, simply call your opponent a "troll." Great strategy, it's not transparent at all. /s
I haven't said a single thing that could be deemed trolling. I'm simply refuting the ridiculous arguments you guys are putting forth.
Anyone with even a basic knowledge of FPS can see that Dust 514 is a low-strategy, casual, lobby shooter. Saying such doesn't make me a troll, it just makes me correct.[/quote]

but I don't blame the reviewers for scoring Dust 514 so low, they don't have a lot of time to play and then write and discuss there point of view, the bits that get me are curtain points that are made and clearly have no justification |

yeah, game informer magazine was briefly discussed, booker and myself went for the PSmagazine as it was the shortest part of the conversation we had ... but I don't totally disagree with the reviewers as they raise some valid points that the devs do need to address. |

(Adam Biessener, Game Informer) absolutely 100% agree that the new player experience in DUST is woeful and I believe we briefly discussed that. CCP needs a PVE element to help ease new players in and give them some indoctrination into the lore of new eden. This is another reason why snapshot reviews will always be low for DUST as in it's current iteration there is very little for a new player to enjoy unless he's a fully paid up member of masochists-r-us and literally wets his pants at the prospect of a never-ending grind!!
