Arirana wrote:No more skill respecs. On a side note, when skills/items are changed, isk and sp refunds for those skills/items affected should be issued with the change, whether it be a nerf, buff, or 1:1 switch around. Its like advertising and selling the largest 1080p HD TVs on the market, then once everyone has one, go into everyone's homes and turn the TVs into 720p TVs with no refunds. Its a ****** metaphor but I got my point across.
If the TV is under about 46 inches then it isn't 1080. Most TV don't even have the extra parts to make them 1080 and if they did and are under 46 inches then you couldn't tell the difference.
CCP didn't make us spend SP on anything. Any SP respec is due to poor choices, with a few exceptions in the skill descriptions. Most of the information needed to spend SP wisely is in the description or can be found by asking or visiting the forums. I could understand refunding SP spent on heavy suits, scouts and vehicles but only those and only when the full line of basic racial suits and vehicles are released. No full reallocation of SP should be given - ever. |

I understand that decisions matter, but what of the people who made mistakes early on? Are you opponents of respecs afraid that we will be able to match your proto gear or something? Ive been saying this since the Start of dust itself. People just dont want others to have any chance. I screwed up TWICE..i learned my lesson. Aye, gotcha. It seems funny to me how the "HTFU" mentality has been intended as a draw for customers by CCP, only to have it partially backfire in the instance of, say, DUST. In EVE, if you make some silly noob mistakes, you can earn the ISK back. You don't have to worry about the mistake influencing your ability to pull up your bootstraps and have another go. But with DUST, if you mess up, SP-wise, your stuck with sub-optimal gear while all the vets taunt you as they send you to the clone farms time and time again with their perma-god weapon, the proto assault rifle. I'm all for at least one free respec. After that, yeah, you should have to pay for it in some way, either AUR or SP.
How does screwing up you skill set in EVE differ in any way than in DUST? Refunding SP will not help player numbers, retention or any other perceived problems that the game has. Content and options are the only thing that can fix our problems. Refunded SP isn't the answer. Make the game fun, give us places to go and things to do and no one will ask for their SP back.

I spent over a year working on my tree and had i known what i know now i would have never ever used my sp the way i did. The grind on this game to get other skills is just to much. people dont have time for that. And if they do its probably because they have a very carefree life. I cant even log on for the sp event. Yea so much for extra sp.
That's the diffence between knowledge and wisdom.

That pretty much sums it up. I have SP everywhere 'cause playing with the same thing every time is boring so I want a respec so I can spec into one weapon and suit with no options at all because I spent 17M specializing into one suit and weapon. It just seems weird.

Because they always give back SP in the other game they make when they change something.

Will you want one when they are reworked? Think you would have figured out they weren't that good when you put the first two levels in them. Like lots of other people did. I don't even use heavy suits and I knew better.

Who forces you? You have the same options as everyone else. Fighting in space is exactly the same in every system except worm holes and I only had Gallente BC skilled so yeah they kind of did.

A t1 frig that is well fitted cost about 5 M and in anything but the lowest sec systems the rats don't pay. Mining pays about 3-6 M and hour in high sec if you are using a 50M ISK boat, PI cost about 10 M a planet to start and about 100 k to transfer one way to move your harvest, you can scam on DUST if you are good. Trading is difficult also most loot isn't that profitable unless it comes from low or under and then it takes a 50M ISK ship, industry isn't profit able unless you have almost perfect skills, a good supplier and researched BPO to manufacture from. Killing players only pays if you win. Missions are the most profitable if you can afford the ship to do them in. It is not the same because if you don't have 50M ISK it is hard to do anything but low level stuff that doesn't pay. Things that pay well require specialty fitted ships that are quite expensive and not fit to fight PVP and you have to fly them in very dangerous space. Unlike DUST where I sign in and hit the MCC for risk free ISK or just scan ans spam uplinks in a free suit.
It is no where near the same and the risk is huge compare to here. Respecs will only make you feel better for a while and will not improve the game or make it more fun. The two games are not the same game but they are the same universe with similar SP systems and overall theme. The problem isn't CCP or DUST, it is the mentality of console players and how they feel like they deserve something for playing.

Think you would have figured out they weren't that good when you put the first two levels in them. Like lots of other people did. I don't even use heavy suits and I knew better. So we're just not supposed to play the game how we like because CCP screwed up? We're supposed to just sit on millions of SP for months and months if not years just in the hopes that one day we can play something worthwhile, since CCP won't allow us to spend our hard earned SP how we see fit, or with all the information at hand. This mentality is poison.
Yes, that is how they play the game. Read up on CCP and EVE; if you think anything different then you are a fool. This is how they do it. They introduce the most basic of basic, then they tweak it, change it and sometimes even remove things. The problem isn't them it is you not being ready for how they develop games.
Most of the things changed don't have that big of a change on the game and hardly make the suits useless. Adapt or die didn't just poof out of thin air, it was coined because they change things and anyone who sits back crying loses.

The two games are not the same game but they are the same universe with similar SP systems and overall theme. The problem isn't CCP or DUST, it is the mentality of console players and how they feel like they deserve something for playing. You deserve to be able to make your decisions with all the information in front of you, particularly when speaking about CORE things, which the vast majority of changes coming down the pipe are. I've played EVE and all the things you mention don't cost nearly what you mention unless you're trying to be the best of the best. You can get plenty of mileage out of basic things and some intelligence. I was making PLEX for a few months just mining and watching the market, and my skills are FAR from maxed. And what's most amusing is that in your attempt to defend EVE's....difficulty?..you just continue to prove how EVE is a game with a wide variety of playstyles and approaches, where as DUST, as you say, is spawn in the MCC and drop uplinks. Respecs allow you to spend your SP the way you want when you have all the information laid out in front of you. The real mentality that is poisonous is thinking DUST is complete and that everyone should be happy with their decisions because the entire core structure is in place. It isn't. Like you said. You expect heavies to not exist because they're bad, so no one should have skilled into them, everyone should have been smart and specced flavor of the game (logi) or just HTFU. Really what it boils down to is some people chose the builds that are best for this game, and don't want anyone else to have the chance to fix or alter their builds in light of the new changes. Proof that you have no clue what you're talking about is that you don't even acknowledge the new turret skill tree.
You must have been mining for hours on end or in null space because 0.5 space only pays about 10M hour max. I don't expect heavies not to exist, I just noticed there were only two weapons and one suit. That stops me from wanting to play them.
I never said DUST was complete and I never said anyone should be happy with where they put SP.
Thank you for proving my point that repecers have no ground to stand on because every argument they give is based on emotion, and what they want, how they screwed up or how the game isn't finished. It is never about the well being of the game. It is always about making them instantly happy even though the community has proven that every time CCP does what we ask they get kicked in the teeth for it.
This game WILL NEVER BE FINISHED. So the the completeness of the game is irreverent. Making bad/poorly informed choices should reflect on the player not the game. Expecting anything but what has happened was the first mistake you guys made. They said this is a different kind of game and we all wanted it that way and not that the differences are starting to show you want to make it the same as any other shoot. Good game.
