a respec would allow me to compare the fits and performances of all proto suits. and anything that earns the game money to support the development or makes the game more player friendly to draw in new souls to devour isnt acutally bad for a F2P game. |

I am all for a respec once all racial suit variants and weaponry are ingame. there is no reason not to.
1. some people for sure wanted to skill into other racial content for aesthetics. you know, some players still like immersion and RP. they had no option to and took what they could get. 2. it would instantly create more variation. someone that heavily invested in AR and caldari suits wont just switch to something else, he will use what he is best at, which leads to point 3 3. it would speed up the balance process. it will take a while till the new stuff is skilled up and used to its full potential.
and I would also like to quote someone from another post because it applies to all those pseudo elitists that think they matter:
DUST Fiend wrote:I've said it before and I will continue to say it: people only fear moving away from this archaic skill system because it would bruise their ego.
It's the exact same thing as aim assist (though it could be too strong atm). People don't want to feel like others can compete with them. They want noobs to fall into pitfalls that they can't get out of. They want people to grow bored and walk away so they have less competition. They want the meta to grow stale so they can spy on their enemies with ease. They have no concern with the game growing healthily and retaining new and old players alike, they simply want to feel like their decisions matter and they are somehow superior for having managed to win the lottery and pick a descent build.
Basically, E Peens are why we can't have nice things.

I even gave some examples of games that had them. An mmo without respecs is mmo thats going to die. To be fair, EVE is doing fine. I'm sick of arguing this topic, but it boils down to the fact that until ALL basic CORE material and skills are live, requests for respecs are legitimate and warranted to be fair, any comparision with EVE makes you look stupid because those games and the mechanics of those games are totally different. EVE is a RTS style PVP game with massive amounts of spreadsheets, plus some extras and almost everything is player driven. Dust is a f2p lobby shooter.
beside that in EVE all your SP is passive, if you are not happy you can remap your attributes for maximum SP gain, stop playing for a month or two just login for setting up skill training, play something else in the meanwhile, then come back and enjoy a new toy almost maximized. or you sell a bunch of game time codes for isk and buy a complete character in the character bazaar. in Dust passive SP gain is too low for that and you cant trade characters. |
