I call in my tank and the craziest thing happened. A random blueberry jumped in a turret and was, wait for it, useful. He fired at my targets, got kills with the crappy turret I had on there and best of all, jumped out to rep my armor when I was in cover and my repper off line.
I have to say, if more players do this I might just start believing in humanity again. Needless to say I sent him an email of gratitude and love. |

I was going to say to you were welcome, but then I read your name and I think that I was riding in someone elses tank this evening.
I sometimes hitch a ride when in my Logi suit and MD to assist a HAV driver with reps and cover fire if SL guys get too close. It can be fun to see how long I can get him to survive. |

No it wasn't you, can't remember his name but I added him to contacts. I love it when useful people ride in my HAV. Used to be in chromosome that I had corp mates that liked to, now a days, not so much.
In the week that I've been back, I think this is only the second time that I've had some good gunners. But that's not completely anybody else's fault, I think I lost a HAV once a match for the first day or two while I was relearning the game. So I don't really blame anyone for not riding along.
I would have been fine without the reps from him, but it saved me from having to wait for my own repper to cool down and to run again.
But either way, thank you random logi I solute you.
Edit: On the subject of keeping HAV's alive, it can be tuff. I find anything above std AV and it becomes a problem for me to actually be useful to my team. And still relearning all the maps, so don't quite have all of the escape routes memorized yet. |

when i see a tanker with no one in i hop in the top gun and see if its a blaster
if it is i stay in shot all targets the tanker misses if i see a swarm i hop out and rush him
and if the tank is kinda just siting there i hope out and move away so he can recall the tank
it changes the game a **** ton when you view it from some one else's eyes
the guy was so nice he trusted me enough to hop out call a ob hop back in and give me the vehicle assist points |

It's nice to hear from people that actually like to be gunners, while I don't mind myself being one, I suck at anything unless I'm in my HAV as that is where all of my skill points are at but I will jump out and die fighting to cover a fellow tankers retreat. But I make a decent one if I am squaded with other tankers. And hearing all of this I might have to consider actually putting decent small turrets on my HAV. |

Dude at least put a good plaster on the top turret :P
atm you might not notice it
but later in the game when you get hard core squads they can be the most useful thing in the game (but dont spec it over defense) defense comes first for a tanker Unless your in a enforcer |

I know what you mean, right now I have two crap small turrets to get the most out of my pitiful powerplant. But I think I am going to have to reevaluate my current fitting. This experience has opened my eyes to what it is like to have useful people around, almost makes me think about, dare I say it, teamwork. |

Are you kidding me? Sitting in a tank and being a gunner is the best thing ever - you get a ton of points from tankers kills and you can get a lot of kills yourself. Only problem is getting into random tanks is tough - most of the time they just jump in and sit there. |

Smart gunners will take the top turret and watch the sides and rear (as defined by the main turret) so it doesn't get snuck up on, and will hold their fire until there is a real target rather than spam fire and alert the enemy as to their position.
I find it's often best to jump out and use my MD and flux grenades against SL's even if it opens me up to infantry fire, especailly if the turrets are all missile.
I figure that's a good trade for all the vehicle assist points the driver hands out. |

Some of us played with HAV's in past builds and gunned for corp mates so we know what we're doing.
Most of the time I can be more effective outside the tank, especially when the small turrets are crap, but I still hop in on occasion for a change of pace. |

I love to ride turrets and produce Ks. Just give me a Blaster on the rear turret. Put a Railgun on the front and I'll target available installations. WPs for everybody. (I usually only do this when I'm in a Sniper fit and not seeing much action. Which does work well for eliminating those pesky AVers) |

That is one thing I've found useful. My corp for some reason has an over abundance of snipers and they do a decent job of taking out the AV that like to post on top of mountains and buildings. But none of them seem to like to mix it up off of there high perches. |

i use a good tank as a mobile bunker, i get some kills with turrets but i usually jump out and after i kill someone jump right back in so i can recharge my shield, i've just had some stupid tankers in the past emo rage when their tank blows up after they make a tactical error they've tried to scream at the gunner for not saving the tank so some gunners get put off by that not saying anyone here does that but yea it sux when they do. |

Ya, I've squaded with other tankers in the past that are like that. While I am normally pretty laid back and realize that normally when I die its because I made a mistake. I do like to talk and make small talk though, and I like to talk extensively about dust and vehicles in dust.
But, anyways, I do know what you mean about some tankers raging, but its not just tankers, I have this one guy in my corp who thinks he's pretty good just because he has proto assault and AR, but he go's nuts as soon as he starts losing them, which doesn't really take long. His rage inspires me to look at why I die and wonder what I could do to minimize it next time instead of blaming those around me for not helping me. |

Man I feel your pain. Everybody I play with, it seems no one wants to work together, its just lets bang our heads against a wall until we rage because the other team is using team work to over come our random ass no plan tactics.
Sometimes it feels like I am running solo most of the time even in a squad of 6. Crazy.
Edit: I say everybody, when I squad outside of my corp its different, sharing tactical information about the current situation, fire support, almost a real purpose. |

right, i need to get the nerve to reactivate mic and squad again with my new corp and their alliance more. the last time i had an EON squad it was very enjoyable. i made a bad choice of directors in some corp i had and instead of cooperating with me to try to train the noobs they trolled out of local they instead tried to rush them into PC which ended in them having a screaming match and me turning my mic off for a couple of months. fortunately it wasn't my isk that was thrown twice down the toilet they had some tax collecting gig they were running |
