I remember reading a thread about how hitboxes get bigger the faster you are, I wonder if its the same issue or if its just blaster aoe hitting the driver. |

People werent complaining about free LAVs, they were complaining about how easy it is for any LAV in general to get kills on even the toughest of tankers. Removing free LAVs was more of a cover fix, it doesnt fix the underlying problem. Murder taxi will still murder taxi, free or not. People have suggested many ways to solve this problem, one of them is to treat dropsuits like LAVs in that ramming into another LAV does damage, so why does dropsuit ramming have no penalty.
With that being said, I predict CCP is gonna release the starter fit LAV BPO for aurum in market  |

You now have a more durable LAV that can take a hit and not blow up from conventional AV. Is that not enough of a benefit over free LAVs? The amount of SP you need to get a somewhat decent LAV is a lot higher than you think.
Free LAVs need to go back to being ground coffins, they didnt need to be removed. They were a way to transport mercs around the battlefield to get to the front line or around various objectives. Even as means of a risky quick escape from hotzones. CCP removing free LAVs didnt solve the murder taxi problem and it did more harm on legitimate gameplay than it helped.
Free LAVs was also the last way for people to try vehicles before speccing into them. We're gonna see a lot less prospective vehicle drivers in the near future. I doubt many newberries would like the idea of having to pay 30-40k to try LAVs that blow up just as fast as the free LAVs. |
