I run Logi most of the time. I like helping allies and getting them and their vehicles back into the fight earlier. I respect the idea of forcing players to pay for LAV's. Its only right to make them respect their vehicle more and not throw them at the enemies and running them over with little skill involved.
The problem I noticed though is that when I place my LLAV (a Limbus - just to prove I try to use it as intended cus it has more balanced slots so I can remote repair and shield transfer) I get swarmed with passengers (which is annoying as they inevitably have no mic and so cant tell me where they want to go) but I needed to resupply but dare not get out since they'll take it away and bang goes about 200K of my heard earned ISK. This cant be right surely
It happened again when I drove my standard LAV and noticed an ally coming under heavy fire, so I drove between him and them and got out to give covering fire and the ungrateful player stole my LAV and stranded me there!
I believe a system where the owner is the only person who can enter the driving position is the best solution but welcome other ideas - after all what do I know, I didn't build the game.
I heard a rumor that a new vehicle will replace the free LAV's - a kind of hover bike (Awesome!!) If so then it would have been more sensible to introduce them as well as remove the free LAV's.

What we need is a system where its 'skill to operate' and not 'skill to deploy on the battlefield'.
So you need all relevant modules, chassis, and turret skills that the tank requires before you can operate it. |

This topic has been beat to death, revived, sniped, and then beat to death again. However, now that I actually have to pay for my LAV, some type of lock would be great. Don't lock people out of the other seats, just the driver's seat. |

I disagree with passenger lockouts. Perhaps a non-squad lockout or something like it, for less than intelligent blueberries that hinder the vehicle owner from recalling his investment. I don't use vehicles but it detracts from the flow of combat for my vehicle using squadmate to have to worry about some idiot that won't exit the million isk tank or what have you, when he could be rejoining the team blasting reds into raspberry jam.

Perhaps when pilot suits are implemented, only they can get into driver seats? At least then, a teammate who sees you gunned down may have a cheap pilot suit to switch to to get your vehicle out of danger as you come back in. At the very least, you know it's another vehicle user who's using your ride, so hopefully they understand the pain of losing it. |

We need both a vehicle lock system (allow only squad, corp, and/or ally mates to enter) and a skill to operate system. At the very least a skill to operate system (I'm skilled to level four in the "Deploy Caldari LAV" skill). I never exit my car when there are blueberries about. Not anymore. |

I'd suggest squad only access and then after a period of time (maybe 10-15 before it desponds) allied access. |

Neither do I. Can't say how often I've been alone at a red objective with no hostiles in sight, and I won't get out to hack for fear of a magic blueberry driving off with the car. Damn teenagers and their joy rides. GET OFF MY LAWN! |

Just want to clarify, I don't want to lock out gunners but do want to be able to park up and not worry some random blueberry makes off with it. That said if I die and my vehicle is left I would rather someone made use of it rather than getting destroyed or self destruct |

This is such a simple thing that should have been included at release.
That's fine i'll pay for my vehicles but you guys allow others to steal them ?
no difference from the AUR tanks how was this overlooked ?
You want people spending real money ? You should ensure they dont have to fight for the driver seat or have to worry about
some blueberry stealing it .
Three solutions I've thought of for this :
Just make it so whoever called it in has to drive .(which would also keep old players from calling in a pimped out tank for their noob friend to lvl up quick )
Or put a 15 sec timer before a ally can get in the driver seat .
Or give us the choice in the options to allow others to drive our vehicles at all .

I didn't mind it too much when I was calling free vehicles. It was a little frustrating when I needed to get to the other side of the map but someone had my vehicle and I couldn't call another.
But if I'm paying for them now, I better be driving, or at least be able to set rules for who can drive it. I wouldn't hand my weapon over to someone if it meant I had to go without. I don't see why vehicles are any different.
Perhaps we could fix this by using assumption of liability - if a teammate takes my vehicle, it's his responsibility. If it gets blown up it comes out of his earnings (if he doesn't have the aurum or whatever he can't take it), otherwise it goes back into my inventory at the end of battle or if he recalls it. In the meantime, I can call myself another one. If you already have one out (whether you called it or took someone elses) you can't call or take another one. Of course, it would require that skill = use, not skill = call.

my whole play style is chained to getting back into my llav before it get's stolen that meaning i'm restricted to stay in it if there's too many blues near and have to spend more time worrying about it than doing anything else worthwhile. everyone thinks drivers are selfish jerks but it's the blues who steal them who force the drivers to be selfish. |

Maybe you should stop abandoning your vehicles or actually focus on nothing else, but getting in your vehicles as they are being dropped in.
Maybe you're anti-team and would rather have your vehicles not be driven off, when your teammates are in critical danger and their best escape is your vehicle, that you decided to leave available to all.
Don't want people stealing your ride?
Don't get out of your vehicle, recall it when you're not using it, or just don't call one in at all.
But I understand that it can be annoying and I don't know what it feels like to have something I worked and paid so much for be stolen and ruined by my teammates, so your suggestions for anti-team vehicle security seems fair. |
