Wow these guys have cried enough to make them change my caldari suit, why because the suit that the most dominant players wear have been logis. CCP you are messing up changing peoples gear everytime people get on here and cry, there will allways be a dominant fit. You have to stop doing this you wil run people off, this is what we speced, this is what we worked for and spent money in your game for, now bc of people crying you are removing it. |

Heres the problem, CCP and the CPM are constantly making changes to accomodate the group crying the loudest, in this instance is no diffrent. The number 1 and 2 players by kills are both Caldari Logis. Is it any wonder that people have found a dominant combonation of both suit and weapon? In some situations certain suits will always be dominant. The greater issue here to me is CCP changing the structural attributes and foundational base of the suits which I speced into based on those particular points. Obviously it was the superior suit which is why I choose it. I spent 100 dollars on an elite pack for Aur so that I could by boosters toget SP faster to spec into something that you offered now you are taking that product away without offering any type of respec? I think that you will find we first person shooters are a bit more intolerant of these changes than your average space nerd might be, if you want the loyalty of the average fps we want consistency and not to have a dominant combo we discover yanked because of those who QQ do so loudly. What happened to "You war your way?" My Caldari Logi didn't come with instructions on how to use it, I see that Ccp doesn't want us to be creative in a persistent universe they want rote drones that play the game the way they want it played, nevermind to your creative whims petty dust bunnies. Let me know how long that lasts... These cry babies don't want balance they want fair, and they think that there should always be a fair chance of getting the kill like in COD. If balance means equal then why have diffrent suits, just make them all the same. |

If balance means equal then why have diffrent suits, just make them all the same. Your suit has 9 slots and the potential to get the highest EHP in the game because of a game breaking racial bonus. Even after this nerf re-balance, you still have 9 slots and the highest EHP out of all the logis. Just be glad all of us logis didn't get restricted to sidearms because of a group of tryhards and a bunch of bandwagon jumpers. I defended logistics suits for almost 3 months while the CaLogi got abused like a preteen boy in a monastery. I have no sympathy for anyone that abused the suit because you knew what you were getting into. Problem with your statement is you are trying to tell us how to use a logi suit. Its our game shouldnt we get to decide?

Personally, I don't care if you throw pink lipstick on your CaLogi and give AFKers an old fashioned ever battle, do what you want with the suit. My point is that you're complaining about a change made to a suit that has been announced, giving you plenty of time to adjust accordingly. Actualy I'm complaining about paying for something that's being changed and I want a respec because of it, please pay attention. |

The problem with your statement is you fail at seeing past your nose. The Logi suit is intended for support, they unintentionally made it more suitable for offense over the offensive oriented suit which rendered the assault useless. It's a balance for game design and structure. It's called "the big picture". I see it I just disagree. |

+1, its nice to have an advocate for the logibro population-
1.) Your blog really shows that skilling into the fad or "flavor of the month is not always the best" heres why * You nerfed the caldari logi by 20 CPU's these guys are going to have to make real life choices, because fitting all those modules is not going to be easy missing 20 CPU- thus these people are going to effectively have to tank into skills that reduce CPU's of modules , this is fair because the Amarr and the Gallente have to tank shields , biotics and armor to have a fair chance- Now these caldari people will have to skill like we did: at least thats my assumption without evidence to support it. ( most people did not see that coming * People that skilled the Amarr logi, myself included, we skilled and we had hope you would bring balance and you did- The sidearm at standard level is great!!!!!!! it makes for a truly unique play style and gives versatility to the team play- Giving us the third slot at at advance tier is even better- * I now feel that the balance to amor and shields is not slightly better- the issue with shields resistance compared to armor is still there but at least now the issue of the caldari " super tank " will be better- shields are still better than armor but now that people can not tank 600 plus shields makes the situation better.( or have trouble super tanking )
The theme of dust and EVE is skill today what I will be tomorrow- this is truly proof that if you skill what you want and not what the flavor is- it can work out What the hell does that mean? We skilled a suit we liked just like everyone else, problem is the best players in the game all seen the best choice was creative enough to use that suit to WIN which I thought was the goal, the people who made the wrong play style choices cried about it, with their we are the 99 percent mentality and now CCP in its ever glorious wisdom has used its Obama like omnipotence to make right the its not fairs of New Eden with a stimulus of redistribution of CPU's, thereby fundamentally changing what we spent money on to purchase boosters and acquire skill points to spec the suit, and while I think in the long run this communist attempt at balancing suits through trying to eliminate strenghts and weaknesses will cost CCP the market in fps as they obviously do not understand the fps mentality which does not correlate with the average eve space nerd, for now I will be content with a full respec. As for the argument of the suit its self this suit is balanced, but bad players fail, and there are more of them now than not. The Cal Logi is slow, has no stamina, has a huge weakness in shields called c7 and allotek flux grenades, which can wipe us of almost all HP in one shot leaving most of us easily wiped, this question of why we don't see them more is a simple one and ties directly into ccp other nerfs, flaylock and contact grenades, ccp has decided to nerf both of these due to an increase in both, what they are obviously to ignorant to see is the huge increase in flaylocks kills is due to it being a finishing weapon, and though most of the damage was done by something else the flaylock usually finishes them off, as for the contact grenade, the answer is also very simple contact grenade use and kills both went up as a counter to the flaylock, and its working. This is the game balancing its self out this is what makes the potential of this game beautiful. You people have got to understand that in order for this game to be diverse we have got to have diffrences which means unequal. If you constantly complain to ccp to balance this game you won't have one people will leave. That may work in eve, but in a game where fighting is up close and personal, your reflexes and decisions depend on the knowledge of consistent mechanis working the same way, of the ranges and distances of your play style along with the equipment we shoot and throw, we like our games that are in full release not be tinkered with so frequently, I don't know who is giving you your advice ccp but take it from a fps from the days of quake, doom, right through to halo 1 ce for pc, bf, cod, and many others if you want a strong market to sell the goods made by the space nerds in eve to then you have to make basic things like suits and guns sacred, that's our base our foundation, leave them alone.

As for the theme of dust I thought it was "your war your way" but apparently its our war their way..... `Sigh. As a, primarily, FPS player I can sympathies with you on some points. The only real thing wrong with this is that you are looking at it from only one side (FPS) and seem to be forgetting the fact that this is also an RPG. It's not really possible to focuse solely on fixing the FPS for if they did then the RPG aspect would be flawed to a point that people on the other side of the fence would leave. It's not easy to make everyone happy ya know? If they try to fix the FPS the the RPG lovers will qq that CCP doesn't care, and as you and virtually everyone that has complained so far has proven, the opposite is true if they fix an RPG element. It's gotten to the point were I think CCP has made peace with the fact that, as the saying goes, "you can't please everybody" and are expecting players to leave. To me that just means getting rid of more QQers. Those that are in it for the long run will stay nomatter how much they dislike the changes as they know were the game is going, and it is that future that keeps them going, and it is those players that keep CCP working hard on achieving that dream. If you feel you have to put the game down for a bit then do so as CCP would rather you take a breather then come back then to leave for good. Rather you believe in CCP or not, you still have a voice and CCP is trying there best to hear you... but it's hard to hear one person when there are thousands screaming at the same time, ya know . For now I say goodbye and when you get back I will be here and willing to squad up with you, and anyone else that's willing to get there feat wet.
`sigh. Another great game of DUST . Screw the thousands, listen to the people buying the elite packs, passive, and active boosters everymonth and paying real money for virtual gear, we are keeping it alive so we should have the voice .

I'm wondering if what CCP is saying that they are doing now is giving everything a:
Racial specialization bonus-suit bonus-and role bonus?
Check my "Nanohive Alchemy" post and give some feedback there if you would please. I think one last thing that armor tanking is really missing it the evolution of its meta; is ALOT more healing nanohives on the field. Assaults should be running around with a mix of allotek hives, and other ammo hives, and I've found that it really buffs my team to have triage hives around, not to mention it is fairly risk free point gain.
I'm predicting a come back of the laser rifle, soon, and a nerf to the flaylock will mean a much healthier margin for armor tankers. In addition we will start to see the remaining weapons trickle in. The rail weapons will fill out, which will also mean some more challenges for armor tanks, they will also likely be the smarter weapons for armor tankers to equip with some of the best precision for longer range attacks.
Also with the addition of the plasma and laser heavy weapons, the anti-shield stand-off weapons will finally come into play. The plasma heavy weapon will probably be the most deadly weapon out there. The availability of a wide range of side-arms, especially the hybrid rail variants, will very likely mean that a lot of assaults will effectively have two light weapons.
I just don't know if I'd push that much harder for balance until we get all the weapons that are out there. And even then, people have to skill in to them, the community then has to learn the counters and things then have to settle down.
To an extent I agree that there is a zero sum gaming going on here, where that breaks down however is that we're not in a binary system where resources (in this case dps vs eHP) are divided between two competing 'parties'. There are multiple suits, even more when races are considered and still more when diverse fittings are accounted for. With this level of flex it is important to maintain as much baseline stability as possible so that player choice maintains relevance, altering mechanics in such a way that an entire role and thus all races and fits within it, is completely incapable of doing something is quite frankly a very heavy handed way to go about things. Even the heavy frame now has an option to carry equipment, granted it's only one and there are trade-offs but it promotes flex. In the case of, broadly speaking, "Assault dps vs Logi survival" I think there should indeed be balance but that balance is best found by looking at the zero sum case of eHP vs DPS in the wider view of class roles. The zero sum says 'if A is attacking B then 10 more damage from A is equal to 10 less starting HP for B" but it fails to account for the wider situation. Logi and Assaults should be combat balance in a general sense, but a Logi should not be as effective a 'slayer' as an Assault leading to the conclusion that Assaults should have more 'gank' while Logi suits should emphasize 'tank' (all statements made within the context of comparing medium frames). If CCP is adding another layer "Racial specialization bonus-suit bonus-and role bonus" then that would be a better solution. It allows a lot more flex for balance than replacing the current buffs with equipment specific ones. It would still have to overcome the constraining of fits to a race such that mercs can on sight read the likely fits of a player but that aside it's a much more effective solution. I'll check out your thread thanks for the heads up on that. Cheers, Cross I would concur that a broader look needs to be taken then just hp vs hp, like when my clip runs out the assault guy s witches to the flaylock and wins, like the intelligent player with flux that devistates my shields, like how slow my cal logi is and how little stamina it has, this is not a result of over powered, this is the result of under skilled.

Simple, the best players in this game will always shoot you in the face with an ar or maybee a scrambler rifle, why? Because those who are good at fps will most likely prefer an ar, its that simple, none of this they do takesminto account the same factor, the better players will dominate ANY 1vs1 encounter, and the worst player will come here and say its his suit, because that is the root of the entire cal logi arguement people complaining about what good players use to kill you.

Another side benefit of a partial respec as you pointed out, people might be able to spec into proto versions and then that would give feedback to ccp faster if they need to re-balance.
Remember we are the testers for the game, even though the game is "released" it is not "a release quality" and as such ccp needs to keep tweaking things and as testers that are not paid (us), we should be compensated for our support of the game and the frustration that is experienced as ccp gets things working.
My suggestion for some type of policy to deal with this is needed and I am more than willing to support someone elses suggestion to deal with policy if it solves the problem better than my suggestion, that is why I posted this so that people can come up with something to deal with this problem and hopefully ccp will listen and implement it.
Thanks for the feedback +1 anyway for a civil reasonable post, even though I don't agree with some of your points. To be honest, I don't see the need for any sort of policy that compensates for CCP balancing certain items or suits etc. At the end of the day, there is no requirement for a player to spec into proto of anything just to test it out. I know this is slightly off topic, but to use as an analogy, when I started playing EVE, I went for Caldari ships because I liked the lore, the weapons and style of gameplay they offered. At that time, one of the popular 'jokes' on the forums was: Pick 2: Caldari PVP Success/Win Nevertheless, I made my choice work because I actually enjoyed playing that way and looked for methods to make the ships and fittings work against the more popular (at the time) Gallente and Minmatar. Similarly, in Dust, certain players will always go for the popular choice, while some may go for something they enjoy. If something is blatantly overpowered, you can be sure CCP will eventually swing the nerfbat at it, so instead of running around going for OP stuff and pretending that "it's needed to be competitive", go for a style of play you genuinely like and wont get bored of that quickly. What would happen if CCP let people have respecs, say, once every 2 months, or even everytime they got around to tweaking something? People would spec into proto versions of said thing without actually trying out basic/militia to determine if it was something they wanted/enjoyed. Then, in between them respeccing and the next respec, the forums would be aflame with cries of how CCP duped them into spending all their skillpoints into something and now there's a long period of waiting for another respec. In short, people will complain about anything and everything. Best not to listen to such complaints and just get on with it. Something all you sheeple let fall from your faces without question is fit of the month and op, both of these are scrub terms that have no real meaning, fit of the month means popular, and op means I get killed a lot. |
