Dust isn't finished it doesn't need to be on a new console competing with finished games in its infantile state it needs a place to grow and become strong let the fanboys do testing and balencing for CCP and then the rest of the community can get a good game to play and enjoy.
Thought you would get a longer post didn't you?

One thing that stuck out was that he outright said that Dust won't be on the Unreal engine if it moves to PS4. Well... Interesting... Hmmm... |

One thing that stuck out was that he outright said that Dust won't be on the Unreal engine if it moves to PS4. It has been confirmed several times that CCP has their own engine called Carbon. Supposedly, it is going to be a lot better than Unreal. The PS3 can't take Carbon without blowing up, and even Eve is supposed to be on Carbon. Going to carbon is the best move for dust. My PS3 can't take Skyrim without sputtering at times so...

Dust 514 is still in beta until it moves to the PS4. Don't believe anything different and it'll preserve your sanity. True and it needs to stay in Beta |

I'd like that game. |

So in defense of Dust you link me to cinematic trailers that could come from almost literally any FPS? First trailer was live gameplay, second was cinematic, but there's a trailer with gameplay, but can't find it. The point is that we're supposed to have more interaction with EVE than we do now, ranging from ships fighting in low orbit, pilotable MCCs, fighting in space, boarding titans, and even fighting over wreckage of ships that crashed to sell the salvage back to EVE corps. None of which will ever be possible with the U3's limitations. So U3 is for testing ideas and balencing also the PS3 version should be a test server.
and PS4 should be the actual game. |

Probably, actually I wouldn't be suprised if there were only 10 of the 30ish Dust Devs working on the PS3 version. |

That is all going on the assumption that they are still messing with Carbon or another engine for the PS4 which would make everything easier.
Also - Fox Engine was developed by people that probably code PS3 better than Sony themselves so you cant really blame others who struggle on available engines. I've been following Dust since 2009 and the one thing I remember is that they approached Microsoft first. The deal breaker is that they wanted the game to run on their servers. That's why it's on the PS3. That would have been great for us but I understand why CCP wouldnt want that. Imagine if they went back to MS and stuck everything in Azure but once again CCP wouldnt do that because MS would mess with their payment structure and most likely also mess with EVE-Dust interaction , or even allow it at all. I understood the goal of being on PS3 for years but as it stands it just seems like death of a thousand cuts when a better solution is screaming to be used. Sony allowed F2P games to be outside the paywall, the architecture is the closest to PC of any console generation, the console has massive resources and your dedicated fanbase will follow you no matter what, plus you can reintroduce yourself to a wider audience. I would shoot for sometime next year, possibly summer with a slew of new content. Once again - going on the assumption that they have PS4 dev kits or at least running the game under a similar environment I would be shocked if they didn't ...well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4vIBijzg4w&feature=youtube_gdata_player If the PS4 game is like the Trailer I then Dust will kick ass but Dust will probably take 12-18 months to be converted to PS4 but hopefully most of the new stuff will be balenced and in-place. |
