Hi,
With all the death and whatnot associated with flying dropships, I had had enough. And I'm a cheapo and don't want to fork out any more for ships.
I bring to you, the unkillable Speedtank Incubus.
Fit:
Highs: 1x Afterburner 1x CRU
Lows: 4x Overdrives
Guns - irrelevant/not in use. You wont have time to shoot trust me.
Method:
1. Activate afterburner, one or two cycles. Hold on. 2. After getting altitude, point nose of ship towards ground 3. Gain speed and point out a drop location you want 4. Burn towards point 5. Just before you get to it, level out at maximum speed, as close to the ground as you dare go, activate afterburner again 6. Tell your passengers to jump. 7. Repeat - see step two.
Disclaimer - It's upto the mercs to spawn in and tell you where they want to go otherwise you choose a spot for them. It's also upto them to jump at the right time. If all else fails you can just take them for a fun ride.
Bonus - I've never had one of these shot down in 30 games. I lost one or two hitting the MCC but that's pilot error. Also, it's just crazy to fly.
Conclusion - You will fulfil your purpose as a dropship pilot and allow mercs to get anywhere on the battlefield they want. Crazy tactics but it works. Nothing can hit you.
I also have a basic Gorgon version for total newbs. It's not as effective but you can practice in it. |

Yes, AB and CRU in Highslots, Overdrives in lows.
Militia fit is fine.
It's pretty sluggish in comparison but still worth a look. You may need to approach your spots in a more U shape as opposed to the Incubus which can hit it's locals like a V shape, i.e. least amount of time in danger zone where you can get locked by swarms etc.
No promises on the Gorgon too, unlike the Incubus you may still lose a few. Still, more survivable than other newb fits. |

It COULD be accomplished, but not as well. The Python doesn't have the low slots for the overdrives, which is key to this build. It's risky. The Python is still a very fast ship. See how you go. I haven't flown it.
All I can recommend is what I have listed.

I don't think you can appreciate how fast this is. You won't hit it. Swarms can't even lock it in time.
Make an alt, send it ISK, fit this ship, fly it the way I outlined, and get back to me. You really won't believe it until you've flown it.
You know you can fly this with minimum SP. |

In a game today, I just had some stubborn lad dropship to the top of a skyscraper with his swarm launcher. He actually got a lock on my ship but unfortunately the missiles were too slow to get me, on both approach and exit. Nice try though.
Anyway, been playing pubs and most dudes are catching on and jumping at the right time as I quickly change vectors over objectives. It's nice and I feel useful while being uber efficient. I can literally be anywhere on the map under 10 seconds. Another victory. Still haven't been shot down either. Well, I did make the mistake of dogfighting for awhile with a Python, but quickly slapped myself when I got railed down to armor and bugged out. Just not worth it. Plus light turrets are pointless against dropships. Unless you can park next to them for about 30 seconds, which basically doesn't happen. |

gbghg wrote:Having tried out this fit I have to say IMO a shield extender is more useful than an MCRU, grants you a bit of extra buffer and blueberries can't be trusted when it comes to leaving a dropship. I also think it might be worth putting a repper in one of the low slots, had a couple of really close calls with armour burn, you do lose some acceleration though.
Eject button would be perfect in this situation. Like dropping a payload of mercs ,hehe. pewpewpew.
Won't ever happen though. Way too much trolling to be had. Yeah, you know you would. Bye bye LOLOLOL
I'm not going to criticize your 'adjustments'. Your ISK, Like I said, I've never been shot down in this fit. If I screw around, get railed and get into armor, I land and recall it. 45 seconds max brb guys.
I fly this super aggressively though. I actually spend the ship upside down half the time, to decend quickly. If anyone wants to come for a ride sometime y'all are most welcome.
HYPOTHETICAL - can you land a flaming ship and use your repair gun? Never tried. |

So yeah, Jovians are so OP that 3x is enough plus small repper.
Have fun.

Flew a dropship before. Know how they work. Still easy target.
Troll or serious?
If you (or anyone) shoots me down I'll give you 1 mill reward. |
