Greetings, my main account just unlocked Proto Caldari racial assault and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their Ideas with me on a good build for it. Currently I have on it:
3x Complex shield extenders 1x complex damage modifier 2x basic armor reps 1x basic armor plate 1x Gek-38 assault rifle 1x basic SMG 1x Packed AV grenades 1x Basic nanohive
All of this together however only brings me 480 shields and 216 armor. Compared to my blueprint assault suit this doesn't seem as grand for the price. Only 15% damage, 2 armor rep rate, and 169 shield increase over my standard suit for 90,000 more isk.
So am I missing something or is this actually good? |

I would probably swap out the armor repairers and look into getting shield regulators. A pair of enhanced regulators with the skill at level 5 can cut your shield recharge and depleted delay down to almost half. |

a basic proto loadout:
3x complex extenders 1x complex recharger 1x basic armour repairer 1x enhanced armour 1x enhanced cpu upgrade 1x m209 smg (if pg maxed you can fit an ishukone i think - with a complex cpu) 1x m1 or Ex Av grenades remote/ nanaohives/ droplinks etc - levels dependent on your pg upgrade levels 1x Duvolle
if you want strafe speed/ endurance etc possible:
same high slots
in the low slots: enhanced cardic regulator basic armour plate (or remove for more speed and add a basic cardiac reg as well) basic armour repairer
gek sub machine gun same level grenades equiment what ever you want |

I just recently had to make the same decisions and I went the route of shield regulation as well. I used to run armor plates but I felt like it kind of minimized the effectiveness due to drop in speed. I run:
3x complex extenders 1x complex energizer (or a 4th extender if you're liking the 560 shield hp) 2x enhanced shield regulators 1x cpu upgrade depending on core skills 1x smg of choice 1x m1/AV grenades as previously stated 1x K2 nanohive 1x Duvolle
I've learned to absolutely love the shield regen and it really reinforces the stick-and-move mentality, which is helpful no matter who you are. I got too caught up in total HP but in my mind the more opportunities your shield has to regen, the more HP you can "spend" in combat.
You can also put together some pretty sweet fits with the Raven assault suit for the cheap if you have it. |

The second basic armor repper is unnecessary. With so much shields you'll rarely need to rep your armor and when you do, 2 hp/sec does the job at the cost of a few extra seconds of staying in cover to heal up. I'd put something else in that slot instead.
Overall, very good. Very close to what I run.

do you really need a proto suit to fit all that adv/basic stuff? |

I would go with a build like this aswell, having the extra armour was always more benificial to me than shield regulators. |

You do if you want the extra slots for your Modules. |
