So...since the official release of Dust 514, how has Scouting actually developed? I'm not talking specifically about the the drop suit but the role. Have people actually taken the role seriously and made it their main job instead of just using it once or twice a round? Is there actual reconnaissance? Any true assassination? And more importantly is there a need for it and a possibility of it happening or continuing in the future? |

Even then there are rendering issues.
The best you're going to do, atm, as a scout (and I mean scouting) is to sit on top a hill with a sniper rifle and call out targets to your team.

I use it most rounds, but I probably tank more.
I have Proto into Minnie Scout, Proto SG, ADV SMGs, and ADV Nova Knives.
The reason not much recon is being done is because the Scout's limited Equip slots and PG/CPU. Making it hard for a Scout to actually fulfill their role.
If we had two Equip slots I'd be using Active Scanners and Uplinks, but even then the limited PG/CPU means I'd have to sacrifice a Weapon or Module.
Anything a Scout can do, a Logi can do better. |

It's happened before, at least for me doing it. However, it's very rare.
My "scan assist" suggestion was originally to help true scouts get WP |

passive scanner is broken so "scout" as a role is pretty borked.
speed tanked scouts make for great CQC shotgunners or nova knives though, especially minnie with the bonus to knives. they've got the fastest turn radius and with kin cats it's pretty fun |

The games that I've played. It is needed. Scouts that stay in their role don't get the kills as other classes, but that's not what we are here for. we tip the balance.
I've been scout since day one. I've played games where teams have used me to compliment there team, and I've have games where I literally have to ******* carry the team across the map cause for some reason they can't capture and hold.
Takes a 3 or 4 guys to remove me, and stay there to keep me from getting back my objective. 3- 4 guys removed from battle.
How the hell a squad of 5 can't get one bloody objective and hold it is beyond me. |

They need to increase the base scan range for scouts (especially Gallente)
10 meters is terrible. |

There are ninjas like me who can infiltrate and cause all sorts of harassment within the city structures while the rest of the team is holding them back. Since the city structures cause problems for snipers due to visual obstruction, CQC scouts can give valuable intel on where exactly the enemy is at in the city. Ninja scouts can also be used to disrupt the enemy's unit cohesion if done properly. |

We should mainly kill stragglers in compounds, stalk groups and kill the slow ones. Harass and run. If they shoot back, run like hell and try and set up traps for people chasing you. Make trying to kill you so difficult and costly that they give up. |

10 meters is terrible. They need to increase the base scan range for everyone, and then more for scout. Thing is, with 10 meters scan radius nobody is passively scanning anyone. What this means is despite the scouts lower profile signature it makes no difference because it is hard to even scan a heavy.
If you increase the scan radius for every suit so people are actually picking up enemies on their radar, then it will make the scouts unique in that they don't show up on it. |

The role of assassin is difficult to fulfill, as a flanked target more often than not has ample time to turn around and engage a would-be stealthy Scout. Uprising's elevated medium/heavy eHP is a contributing factor, though CQC mechanics and shotgun/knife hit detection are the primary factors to blame.
If CQC performance is improved addressed in Uprising 1.3, I suspect the Scout's assassin role will become more viable.
