Well to start off this idea wasnt totally mine originally but i definately was one of the helpers to kinda run it through some of the community...
This is the thread that we have kinda talked about it but ive also talked on comms to my fellow friends in SI about it...
The general idea is kinda like finding a faction spawn during ratting in EvE... Using this general idea of coming across a "special event" while doing something that is straight up...
I was thinking you would be grinding away your cap for the week with some of your alliance mates. Jump into a match which might look a little boring and for the start of it your up 10 clones already. All of a sudden you get a flashing icon on your miniHUD and these yellow dots appear next to you. Before you can even turn to see what they are you are downed and see "your name" was killed by "General Balac." This makes you mad because you just lost a proto suit! Then you realize holy **** thats an officer spawn, and you want your shiny new balac's assault suit. This is when you call out to your squad members who are also probably starting to realize what has appeared on the field. A full squad of General Balac and his best men. In the recent future you remember trying to take on Gastun's group of heavies which mowed down 30 clones before they died. You finally get your squad together and start to approach General Balac when you realize some dumb reddots are trying to take your officer kills! To your relief they are so focused on him that they are simple work for you and you go about trying to start your assault.
Anyways, the general idea was one of having officer type classes where the AI's are super tanked and have strong weapons such as the officer spawn weapons and dropsuits and the whole nine yards coming in with a 4 or 6 man squad into your pub match and kinda derail the whole match. Then they just march their way into lets say every 200 fights in each server (making it so that players would want to play on the most popular servers just for a better chance to find an officer spawn). This would make it a not so random but still random event because there is no way we can count how many fights have been logged in each server so we cant all stack teams on the 200th match. Also, this would make teams have to work together (or strong squads) but they better have some damn good tactics because these things can rinse protos in under 5 seconds if theyre not careful. And the added fact that you still need to watch out for the enemy team trying to kill you off to take the officer spawn is an exciting new way to keep people interested through a grind...
Also stats of the officers may be as follow's Leuitenant Havok (aka the grunt guys for just a general stats briefing) -In his Medium framed assault suit -1,400 Shields -900 Armour -Balac's assualt rifle -Balac's SMG -Core locus grenade -Wiyrkomi Triage Nanohive
General Balac -In his Medium framed assault suit (with two eqpt slots) -2,000 Shields -1,200 Armour -Balac's Assault rifle -Balac's SMG -Balac's Flux grenade -Balac's Nanite injector (only one to have a nanite injector making him your primary target) -Balac's Repair tool
This would make him the hero of the squad but also the "weak point" as in if you killed him you wouldnt have to worry about the rest being revived... Also these guys would work like a decent squad spreading minorly to get angles and taking cover if need be making it hard to kill them unless you have a team doing it or a plethora of types of weapons in your squad to help out..
The loot would be determined by who killed the AI's and would be distributed by chance to those who assisted... Therefor, if 8 guys where focusing fire on General Balac, the guy who got the kill would get a Balac's drop (maybe 5 Balac's Assault suits) and the other 7 guys would have a 50/50 chance of getting a drop. Same goes for the regular grunts in balac's party but maybe they dont have the same drops... Like only Balac himself can give Balac's assault dropsuit as a drop or something
Others have also said their own variants of this idea
- possibly having it randomly instead of allowing you to go back to your merc quarters after a battle, that your squad gets attacked on the way by a squad of officers...
Remember this is a very infant idea and just trying to get some constructive criticism... Please dont tell me this is impossible in programming because nowadays anything is possible just might be a pain to do... and hey lets hear your spins of this idea =) |
