Could you please make a feature for Dust players to contract orbital strike clearance to EVE players.
I see it having two options:
1. Have a public contract. Enabling any EVE player to provide orbital strikes for the upcoming corp match for the Dust corp. 2. Have a private contract. Set a contract to a single EVE pilot so only he/ she can provide orbital strikes for the upcoming corp match for the Dust corp.
When the economies for both games merge, you should be able to add a fee to these contracts so that the orbital strike delivery becomes a worthwhile endeavor for EVE players.
These options will also enable more EVE players to provide orbital strikes, have people maybe compete to deliver the strikes, have the contract scams go beyond EVE and go into Dust etc.
In the contract it would state the planet and district of the corp match, the opponent, the contract supplier etc.

Agree. In fact I think it should work both directions, and have a little more Factional Warfare flexibility. This does not need to sacrifice risk/reward in principle. It could also function via the EVE notifications system, rather than tinkering with EVE contract system.
Here are my thoughts from the capsuleer side, since EVE is the crowd that needs to be enticed into participating. For the record I have two fitted Orbital Strike Catalysts at the ready.
I finally landed a new 514 clone in the same highsec home system as a capsuleer alt. But there is just no way my capsuleer is going to join FW, for the privilege of raining fire down on some random planet at a random time, which may not even be his home system. But it is TOTALLY fine for my OS capsuleer to become a FW target for the duration of the OS contract and/or while in the highsec system.
-- My OS capsuleer can create "instant" contracts to anyone in a district system, simply by showing up at any district with the proper OS ammo loaded. They would need to be very short duration, more like a 60m FW timer instead of standing market contracts, to prevent abuse and AFK. Having to interact with a district satellite should also minimise the amount of tinkering with EVE contract code.
-- As mentioned, this activates a FW flag on the OS capsuleer in Local, who knowing risk from other FW capsuleers needs to find a safe spot until the strike, but knows roughly when OS request will come... especially if they are dual-boxing and in the 514 fight. Encouraging cross-players!
-- FW capsuleers doing PVP don't know when or where the OS capsuleer will turn up, unless they have more than just Local chat intelligence (encouraging more Dust interaction).
This has emergent gameplay possibilities by creating or expanding upon the following metagames: -- "FW flag" hunting for FW capsuleers interested in PVP but not Dust -- PVP baiting for non-FW capsuleers interested in highsec FW targets -- "dueling" standoffs between two or more opposing ships who are both playing OS roles. (Do they bring a PVP friend as a bodyguard, or can they switch ammo faster?) -- Dust corp intel spys (what more do you need? :D ) -- Dust corp sabotage (remove the OS capsuleer, then help the other team) -- Dust corp griefing (accept the OS contract but refuse to help properly, wasting the team's points)
The only suggestion I don't have yet is how to balance the risk vs. ISK of the temporary FW timer. Does it prevent docking? Does it prevent jumping? Does it disappear on either? |
