would CCP ever consider reducing the 5x multipler for PG and CPU?
basically you need approx 2.4m sp to get level 4 and 5 . This takes an incredible amount of time and grind and passive time to get this. A necessary core skill
It seems stupid to me to put such a huge and unnecessary roadblock in front of people before they can properly skill into equipment etc and get on with the RPG side of the game?

I actually brought this up when they came to us with the revamped skill list for uprising 1.1, citing that 'core skills' like this should never have more than a 2-3x modifier. I was shot down :( |

I actually like that they are 5x. It should take time in this game to max things out. Instead of using the original Uprising respec to get a proto suit right away, I maxed out my Core Skills. As a Logi, I needed those first. Only downside is that now all I have is the 8x grind to get my proto logi suit. I feel like most mercs went full proto right away, and now they can't fit the suit how they want to. |

If grinding weren't fun, experience/skillup systems wouldn't be such a pervasive mechanic in games. BUT, the fun comes from earning incremental rewards. I think it's pretty common for this sort of system to give the skillup rewards more quickly at first, and slow down over time. CCP's exponential unlock curve is pretty severe, though, and when the final level takes between 700 and 800 thousand SP to unlock something, THAT is not fun at all. Nothing over 4x is really fun to me.
If they're dead set on keeping these skills at the current grind duration, I'd rather them split them into a two skills - maybe a 'regular' one that grants 3% for 2x, and a 'proficiency' one that gives you the extra 2% per level at 3x? I may be getting my mathematical properties mixed up here, but I think those numbers would result in the same end result...if I got it wrong, I'm sure there's some way to configure it to match whatever the current numbers are. In any case, I think that would be a LOT more palatable...even *gasp* fun to unlock twice as many skill levels at that rate than grind out those monolithic higher-level skillups in the current model.

@booby assault suits are equipment not core skills. Plus, I can get a proto suit for approx 1m sp. (though if your a logi ....)
Pg/CPU is a core skill. 2.4m to get both those last levels is out of whack for everything else. Also they are relevant to those that want to fit advanced suits. |
