Since it looked like a heavy and it said dual wielding, I assumed I could dual wield Ishukonun Forge Guns, Luckily I read the part where it said "2 Light Weapons". |

Commando is like the Logi, only with lesser equipment usage and is more of a support or a backup. The CPU/PG is a resource hog, but it's well balanced with having two light weapon slots. The Commando is also ideal for anti-sniper work. I plan to branch into the Commando when I have enough SP. |

It's awesome. My favorite fit (though it's boring) is an AR and a shotgun. Damn suit's so much fun, I can't even begin to explain.

Yup. Gonna try that when I get a few more SP on that guy.

Not exactly... Plasma Cannon drops shields almost instantly, then you can switch to the AR in a flash and finish the kill. It takes a bit to get use to it, and you have to be very precise with the Plasma Cannon.. but when you get it right, is very satisfying. |

I was playing around with commando yesterday and I haven't quite had the same experience. I find there are too many draw backs using a commando to out weigh any benefit of having 2 weapons.
First off... this "Super Tanked" business is misleading. I have 4 and 4 in armour shields for a whopping 300 shields / 300 armour. Keeping in mind that this is for STD suit, that is what I am stuck with ATM. 600 eHP. My basic Assault suits get very close to 600 eHP once I throw on a couple shield and armour mods. With commando, yeah i get a bit more up front "tankiness" but absolutely no flexibility with earlier builds (even AVD only comes with 2 slots total).
The 2nd drawback is that movement speed.... Hardly an improvement over existing heavies, so that little bump of hp I have? mitigated by the slowness making most fire fight dodging pointless. With new strafing speeds, trying to go 1 on 1 with an assault in any sort of open engagement is murder even if I have an HP edge.
Then theres the tradeoff of a grenade for equipment... Sure its real nice for anyone who has specced into heavy and probably is super excited to finally use Eq. but realistically, much of the EQ items are rendered useless by the nature of the suit.
Drop Uplinks? Pretty hard for this suit to keep up when theres pushes to objectives, also the high PG/CPU costs for these don't fit well if you plan to run any better than STD weapons. Repair tool? A) Lack of speed to keep in battle B) Why are you using a repper that takes away from your main selling point of 2 light weapons? RE? possibly a decent choice but frustrating. to currently use. That pretty much leaves Nanohives, which most assaults basically run anyways.
As for the biggest draw of 2 light weapons, I will give it credit that its fun to run AR / Swarm, but with the recent range fixes the commando is made irrelevant to battle. I have a Swarm, SMG that owns harder with the ability to use complex dmg mods and has about 500 eHP while the SMG can now support a longer kill range which ALSO gets an equip slot AND can use Packed AV grenades, so I lose a tiny bit of infantry range for a hell of a lot more power on the AV side. Commando? doesn't really have that option to flex, which I thought was the intent of the suit.
Top this all off with a lack of a grenade slot, and you get yourself a rather underwhelming suit. If I had any advice to offer to help fix it, it would be to either switch one weapon slot with a heavy slot so you can use a mix of 1 heavy 1 light or give it a big bump in PG/CPU so that you can actually take advantage of the weapon slots and run 2 proto weapons when you get fully kitted out.
For anyone thinking of speccing into Commando, I recommend holding off until it gets either some love, or the other Racial Heavy / Commandos are out and theres some better choices that may offset some of the inherent weaknesses.
TL/DR - Commando suit is underwhelming with too many drawbacks. Can be fun at times but is best left until it gets some CCP love

Advice ;
Don't use the Commando suit as an Assault Infantry Class. Is more a Combat Support Class.

I dont play front line attacker. Usually a few meters behind a couple heavies / assaults for most engagements... That being said, what advantage do I gain by doing this and using this play style?
Right now theres no reason other than Lore or Novelty to spec commando as all the other suits provide more options with larger potential for gains.
Maybe they could better support with an additional EQ slot? maybe throw on a few more low slots for flexibility? Maybe make their profile signature way lower so you can make stealthy builds for flanking? Im not sure...
But what I am sure of, is that theres no game advantage of speccing commando if you already have Medium / Assault specced, or if you are already a dedicated heavy... In current form its best to hold on to your saved SP until we get some tweaks and the feedback is taken into account. |

The commando suit is tricky to get it right..
Max shields and Armor passive skills is a MOST have, and also the speed and CPU/PG passive skills. You also need alot of CPU passive skills, and a CPU module to equip two advanced weapons and Advanced Nanohives... a real pain in the ass for a 50k suit..BUT if you have all that things, the Commando suit is no bad at all..
Is actually how complicated it is, that is appealing to me the most.... weird .. i know. |

So you think Commandos can dual-wield light weapons, and you don't want to spec into that? |
