People have been saying that the playerbase is getting smaller. Did CCP just slap in the numbers of the EVE Players to save face because of that? Or is it that Dust have merged completely with EVE Online that the numbers merged as well? What is the average numbers of Dust players now? I personally want to get more people on Dust 514, but I cannot seem to convince some of my illiterate friends to join due to the complexity of the game. I do know that EVE Online has a stable, decent playerbase. But Dust is a FPS and the regular FPS audience wants something more of quick-paced action.
Actually, it may seem that the number of females may be growing. I'm sure that some guys do play female avatars and that would bring in more female players. But I think this game appeals to women because of the female suits and that it's more cooperative than the ego-shooter lone wolf COD. Dust 514 is doing a good job of that, but I think maybe if they add in more speed and big explosives and nukes, it would make the guys' eyes and balls burst and that will grow the playerbase better. What are your thoughts? |

it is FPS like but it is something more .... a hybrid....a melting pot of fps mech mmo and rpg,,,, and it is just a "demo" right now for lack of a better description.... the reason why the eve players are lumped in is because we are all on the same server and as time passes and we are integrated with our eve brothers and sisters those numbers will be more meaningful to dust players. im starting to realize more and more that a lot of people really don't get what this game is....
Dust is a FPS. I agree that it is more than just FPS, but for the most part it's the main thing. This game is played mainly in first person view. Few 3rd person elements are in the game, but it's in the minority like vehicles and a few other things. I can see what you mean with the "mech mmo and rpg." It probably feels a bit like Chrome Hound, Armored Core, or Valkyrie Chronicles. As of late, many regular games are incorporating RPG elements in them such as experience points, levels, and things like that. COD and BF3 have similar systems. Pure RPGs are not phased out yet, but will become indistinguishable. I can also see that Dust 514 has a bit of strategy in it with the map planning and relocations. But overall the meat of the game is FPS. |

It's kinda pathetic we have fallen this far :(
23,000? Are you serious? Where did you get that information? I used to play Counter Strike a lot long time ago, but I didn't think it would remain popular. Is it the new one, Counter Strike: Global Offensive? |

I've noticed this too on a regular basis, but not today. Earlier today a couple of guys were attacking a young girl in the Local Channel and I was trying to pull a white knight on them. Despite my valiant efforts, she was still hurt and left the chat. Poor girl. It seems like there are still cruel men and children acting like a Grendel towards the girls. I've read that in Halo some of the guys were verbally attacking the girls, but most of the girls had female groups standing together for each other. It even gained respect from some of the mature guys. I have no idea if there's a corp like that on Dust so far I know of, but I think that's what Dust needs. |
