Along the massive corridor wrapped around the main rotunda of the Intergalactic Summit station are many doors. However, few can rival the beauty of the one leading to the Amarran Cathedral of The Stayed Sword. Arched golden panels adorned and inscribed with intricate designs and scriptural calligraphy. As you pass through them you are faced with a towering chapel lined with columns down its length. On the far side are giant windows, looking out into the heavens. You can see ships of all races beyond, orbiting the Summit. Within the chapel, robed priests and clergymen scurry to and fro among the columns, running errands and attending to the cathedral's maintenance. Some are seen standing with non-Amarr, eager to answer questions. Along the central aisle stand vigil gleaming statues of saints and martyrs, their faces ones of grace and beauty. As you walk around, you see that the outer walls are lined with small, rounded enclaves for faithful to kneel before icons and pray, or sit in contemplation. The entire place shines with light, and is filled with reverent music.
This is a place of worship and enlightenment for all to witness in peace. |

Kador kneels in reverent silence before one of the great statues of the Amarrian prophets uttering one of the catechisms of peace from the Scriptures.
His term of service at the frontlines of the Crusade had made him weary, The days battle had stained his battle armour with blood and muck and so he had slipped into some simple civilians clothes, a plain roughspun tunic of brown wool, and a pair dark leggings. Over his shoulder he wears a crimson sash indicating his status as a Templar Crusader of the Praetoriate, and neatly hung over his heart is the Medal of St Agelroth polished in glittering in the dim half-light of one the cathedrals cloisters.
This place brings him peace, he can still feel the ache in his muscle of prolonged tension, but that is slowly fading and being replaced with transcendent relief.
The statue before him is that of St Anoyia. Her image carved entirely of pure while marble, no flaws or imperfections blemish her form. The long flowing robes she is depicted in reach low and are elegantly and ingeniously carved into the statues Corinthian base. Her face bears a look of limitless compassion, and understanding.
"The angelic Apostles of Heaven sing praises for their children! Our Lord smiles upon the world. Where the Emperor rules in his name Leading his people to glory untold. Hearken the trumpets of Heaven Hailing the people of Amarr."
He utters in the silence of the cloister. Outside the Cathedral an Apocalypse class battlefield slowly drifts past the Temples windows, a mighty display of imperial strength.
Flashes of combat spin through his mind. The stifling heat of his laser rilfe from inside the enclosed pillbox. The cries from his brothers as a line of tanks crests the hill. The blinding pain as red hot metal scores a bloody line across his face.
All in God's name.
All forgotten, for the disturbed mind was a place ripe for Heresy to take root.
All accepted, and all condemned to the past.
"Chosen, you are first before God. You are the True and the Faithful. But in such a state must you hold yourselves high above all. And constantly prove yourself worthy of Gods Love. How can such a gift be repaid, Other than to toil all our days, In his glorious service, According to his will, Serving him always, Bearing him first in our thoughts, Always must we strive to show him our worth, For we are the Chosen, Blessed above all."
The second litany passes his lips echoing out through the colonnades and cloisters in ghostly whispers and fade into the hymns of the clergymen.
Here Kador's mind is at peace. Here the horrors of battle fade away. Here memmories of his days as a cadet begin to weigh down upon him. Father Camden, as he spoke of the Test of Faith, the early morning prayer sessions with the other Templar aspirants, Arryn and Dardan the other aspirants who were chosen to enter the Templar Programme.
Those days were good.
He now begins to consider his role as an Immortal. A servant in God's name who cannot die. He is truly blessed to serve the Lord. Truly blessed to serve the people of the Empire.
Behind him, slowly shuffling across through the resplendent chapel, a priest, who nods in praise to Kador's diligence in worship.
Outside the windows the stars flicker and shine, as the mighty Apocalypse accelerates to stable warp speed. Outside the stars beckon to him.
"The word of the Lord is pure, It is a shield for the faithful, Brought unto men by the Angels, As a guiding light in the darkness "
"Amen" |

Aero Yassavi enters the Cathedral, his armor heavily scratched and dented throughout. It is usually custom to enter the Cathedral in a respectable attire, but to Crusader Yassavi it would be disrespectful to hide why he comes here. He just returned to the summit from deployment on the battlefield, and by now it has become habit for him to immediately report to the Cathedral afterwards to seek the Lord and cleanse his mind from the horrors of battle - the ear-scratching screams of the wounded, the sound of flesh shredding and falling to the floor, the crackling of tank treads trawling across the dust, the thunk of impact by speeding vehicles, all muted by the ringing aura of a nearby explosion briefly followed by the torment of your conscious mercilessly draining from your body and reawakening in complete darkness. He is thankful the helmets shield the gut-wrenching expressions on the faces that lay in the dirt as they disintegrate.
He never wanted war or violence, but knows it is the will of the Lord and the hardship he must endure to become closer to Him. Here at the Cathedral, by embracing what he has become, he is able to channel those hardships into strength for his faith.
Stepping into one of the rounded enclaves in the wall, Yassavi kneels and prays. The Melody of God is heard in the background and within his very soul. Deep in mediation, he envisions the cathedral on his home planet of Sarum Prime V. Despite its location in one of the most significant systems in imperial space, the cathedral stood no comparison to the elegance of the one he resides in now. Sarum Prime V is stormy planet, mildly populated in comparison to it's neighbors Sarum Prime II and Mekhios, where he would spend his later years. The skies were covered in thick clouds blocking the sun, the only light coming from the thunderous strikes of lightning that illuminated the atmosphere for hours on end. In many ways the anguish of battle reminds him of this world, perhaps explaining why he is always brought there in meditation. By no means does this make him unstable, rather it brings peace and comfort to his recollections of war.
Aero Yassavi remains kneeled in the enclave, in deafening motionlessness. |

*Metsar enters the cathedral clad in his ceremonial armour. Head bowed and hands clasped before him in reverence, he walks down the central aisle, stopping before the Altar of God. He unsheathes the sword at his side and slowly lays it upon the altar, the rubies of its hilt casting red reflections upon the marble. He then steps back and prostrates himself before the altar, his face touching the cold ground. Muttering under his breathe he lifts himself up into a kneeling position. His eyes affix upon the altar.*
"Lord my God who is the One and the Light. Thou who did form me upon the soil of Old Athra, just as Thou formed the All from the One. Dividing all things and giving each purpose. I lay this sword upon Thy altar, for this sword is I and I art Thou's. For just as Garrulor rules the skies and Frisceas rules the sea, do Thou rule over me as Thou rule over all things of the universe. Only in Thy service doth my heart shine with the Light, oh Lord of Lords. So unto Thy service do I pledge myself. To go where Thou wilt, to die as Thou see fit, again and again, until Thy purpose for me be fulfilled. Help me find solace amidst the flames and guidance before the Deceiver. Help me to overcome the heretic and the heathen, so that when I depart from the battlefield they shall know Thy name and fear Thy wrath. For I am merely an instrument of Thy will. Thou who didst save me when all else perished. Thou who didst lift me from the burning house of my forefathers. Thou who didst grace and bless my youth with my mother's wisdom. For these gifts I do pledge my life unto you. And though the golden throne of Athra orbits a distant star, I shall carry Thy Light where'er I tread. You... Lord of Lords..."
*Metsar rises and retrieves his sword, sheathing it solemnly.* |

Even with his observances complete Kador feels little reason to leave the grand cathedral.
It is a place of serenity, understanding, and peace.
He slips between the marble colonnades and heads toward the windows which depicts a marvellous display, as if the universe itself, in motion, were the canvas of some grand artist.
This is true he considers to himself, God was indeed the first and most sincere artist of all to have created such beauty.
He relaxes into a comfortable stance, hands held behind his back, and gazes out into the space lanes where hulking freighters and transport ships slowly drift into station while smaller escort frigates dart between the lumbering giants like schools of minnows.
Yet again another exhalation of Anoyia's passes his lips.
Behind his he hears the shuffling slippered feet and the rasp rough robes on polished floors. He turns. There is a member of the clergy there, his features drawn and defined in the nature of True Amarrians. The priest is of middling age, late forties perhaps Kador would have assumed, fading blonde hair tied in a bun, her eyes are a steely grey but filled with wisdom and understanding.
"You are here much of late Templar" she says noting the red sash around his neck and then the medal of St Agleroth. "And honoured by God's chosen too no less. A fine example of a true Amarr. What is it you seek of St Anoyia? Her's is the cloister you most visit, when all about you is so grand why not offer your prayers at the main altar?"
He nods back, acknowledging her complement.
"You are too kind priestess. This One is not worthy of such words, I merely do my duty for the Empire....."
He stumbles over his words as he tries to find himself.
".....I feel Anoyia's words offer great understanding and compassion priestess. Her's are hymms of understanding, of celebration before God, and of His exultation. Many times I have I uttered the catechisms of protection to the altars of the Lord, and never have I failed to utter Anoyia's words there too. More than that.... they are beautiful words... I find solace in them."
To Kador's surprise the priestess nods back at him in understanding, her eyes search his for a moment, she looks as if she is about to ask him something but thinks better of it.
"Indeed they are Templar?"
"Ouryon priestess."
She turns and glances back at the other clergy members. They are preparing for a service, a man beckons for her aid and she indicates her acknowledgement. She takes one glance at Kador and then one at the cloister of St Anoyia.
"Then Templar Ouryon I shall pray for you, so that you may do no wrong in God's name, and that you may uphold the laws and beliefs of our Holy Empire in your cause.... "The word of the Lord is pure, It is a shield for the faithful........."
Kador smiles. It is his favourite excerpt from the Scriptures. He knows this off by heart and has uttered its hallowed words a thousand times over on a dozen planets. They are the words that keep him, they are his shield and his sword. He places one hand over his heart, and the other behind his back in a formal military salute.
"Brought unto men by angels" he replies "As a guiding light in the darkness "
With the exchange over he returns his gaze back to the space lanes. |

*Metsar passes through the golden doors with Fae behind him. Chanting reverberates around the massive chamber, echoing amongst the pillars. He leads him to an enclave off to the left. At its center kneels a copper statue of a man, his hands clenched at his sides. The figure's face bears an expression split into two; one side pained, the other peaceful. Metsar begins to recite.*
"Which test reveals more of the soul, the test that a man will take to prove his faith, or the test that finds the man who believed his faith already proven? If you know this answer, then you also know which of these challenges bear the greatest penalty for failure. The gates of paradise will open for you one time only; woe to the soul who dares to knock twice.
To know the true path, but yet, to never follow it. That is possibly the gravest sin
Only through many hardships Is a man stripped to his very foundations And in such a state Devoid of distractions Is his soul free to soar And in this He is closest to God
Surround yourself with the faithful, Stand together, for there is no strength like it under the heavens.
All things were created by the Divine, and so the glory of our faith is inherent to us all; When thine heart shines with the Light, thou shalt know no hardship; When thine actions are in Light's name, thou art immortal."

Galm follows closely, fascinated but not convinced by the words of the Templar before him. Galm is bloodied, having just had his own brush with death, leaving him feeling horribly under-dressed to be in such a place of worship, even if it is not of his own. The Cathedral is truly a testament to the importance of faith in Amarr society, as opposed to humble shrines one would be accustomed to seeing in the State.
He looks up at the statue.
"Your scriptures... It is said the Amarr were chosen by god to lead the universe. What does that make me? If I am worth nothing before the eyes of your god, when why would he deserve any praise from me?" |

*Metsar turns to look at Fae.*
"You are not nothing before God's eyes? Such is only for heretics and apostates. We are all his children, and He has a purpose for each of us. He hearkens forth from the heavens, urging and kindling the Light that resides within each man and woman. Longing for us to answer that call. To take upon us the mantle of destiny, and shine forth our Light for the universe to witness. The journey is long and arduous, fraught with perils and trials, but at its end is the celestial heavens. The return to God's embrace. Such an achievement is available to all peoples of all races, not just the Amarr. It only requires we answer Him in faith, ready to begin the road ahead. Each event of our lives happens for a purpose, each serves a higher call." |

"In the beginning all things were as one. God parted them and breathed life into his creation Divided the parts and gave each its place And unto each, bestowed purpose
Perhaps long ago God inspired your 'maker,' but ours is not an absentee creator. One who looks on at the machinations of the cosmos, merely observing what he set in motion. Our Lord is a presence known to every Imperial. A guiding hand through existence. Manipulating eternity. We call out to Him and He answers. I have felt it in my heart, time and time again. It was the Almighty that led your search of the children to culminate in my office. So that when events dealt their harsh hand help would be nearby." |

Wishful thinking for the devout. Winds, why have you brought me here?
"With respect, Metsar-haan, I find it doubtful that your god would guide me with such compassion. I appriciate your help and your kindness, I do. However, if God truly has guided me my entire life, then I find it fit to say that he works in mysterious ways. I've done work for your faith before, and I have committed sins by the will of your faithful. Granted, your kindness has shown me that not all who follow your scriptures are as coldhearted as the man who hired me, but if your lord is somehow the architect of the harm I caused then I hope it was all somehow worth it. If it was not by his will that we committed those acts, then I am already condemned to my wickedness."

The cathedral would probably even house a Theology Council office. Other races should open areas displaying their culture as well, like a galactic showcase. Caldari should have a Way of the Winds shrine, an Achuran temple, An Intaki philosophical school, Minmatar shaman or something, and for Gallente... .... .... ... I guess a nightclub?)) |

A robed man appears at the golden archway he inspects the intricate beauty of the design as with all things of his people was forged with care and love. Music reaches his ears, it speaks of service and love of a being who will forever guide and lead a race to peace and victory over all else. As he passes through, he takes in the vista of space beyond with star ships scattered through the cosmos , but his breath is taken away by the palisade of saints that run down the main aisle. Not since his stay at Dam-Torsad did he see such divine shrines to those men and woman who now stand at God's side. Remembering what Kador sad he went down the aisle eyes searching until until he found the statue of Anoyia.
Kneeling before the beautiful icon he prayed making sure to carefully depict the verse and it's meaning to him as he spoke it giving fiery passion to his words, leaden with emotion, of happiness but also sorrow. During which he clutched tightly once more at the ritually inscribed bullet. |
