Does it make sense that getting hit by splash damage right at the edge of the splash radius yields the exact same damage as being right in the middle of the splash zone (but not direct hit position)? |

More attempts to nerf the MD back to uselessness pre 1.2 patch. |

Chunky Munkey wrote:Does it? Yup. You can be several meters away from a M1 locus grenade and still get the full blast from it as though you were right in the middle. Or at least this is the way it appears. If anyone else has a different experience of this, I'd love to hear it but at the moment it seems that splash damage is uniform within the splash radius. |

If fixing the game then means more balancing is needed then that is a secondary point to be dealt with separately. |

As a grenade spammer, that's most certainly not been my experience with it.
As for, "should it"? Yes, yes it should. |

I would very much like it to - maybe then, they could increase the radius on things like missiles and the plasma cannon, which seem like they should have very large splash areas, without making them overpowered. |

Explosions should loose damage with increasing distance. That's what you'd expect from bare intuition.
If it doesn't behave that way already then i think it should. Just up the splash radius where needed so that all affected weapons remain viable in their intended areas.
I can already imagine special variants that have lower overall splash damage but less dropoff for specialized croud control purposes.

Realistically that is how it should work but for every bit of accuracy you build in, performance has to suffer. Maybe not by much but when you run the edge like Dust does, every little bit gets thrown into the larger pool. So I guess the real question is: is it worth reducing performance to give splash damage a finer resolution? |

realistically the % from direct to splash is wrong on MD, FL, missiles as well as the damage vs distance. on MD HE does the damage not getting hit by basically a softball sized metal ball(high splash zero to little increase direct damage). rockets(flaylock) the HE is shaped so all the force from it is forward and the splash is unburnt fuel( low damage). missiles well are a combo of them and can have shaped HE but not always so why isn't there one for turrets, and don't tell my cycle/accelerate because they don't fit. |

I could be wrong but I think this does actually happen with hand grenades, just not with other forms of splash damage. |
