I spend a lot of time in the feedback section, roaming around, debating various issues with people. There is a depressing lack of blue posts there. In the first 3 pages, there is only one topic with a blue post and that's one which doesn't really talk about anything of note.
In particular, I've spent a lot of time on one topic - Discussing armour and shields. This is far from the only reasonable topic in the feedback section, but it's probably the most in depth.
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=87752&find=unread
At the time of writing, this post has 7,000 views, 28 pages of reasoned discussion, and over a thousand likes throughout the topic. There has not been a dev post.
There are seven thousand words in the OP - seven thousand words which have been frequently updated as issues are discussed, as people make counterpoints, point out errors, and test things.
How long does it take to simply acknowledge a thread's existence, or provide some cursory details on what's being done about it? It doesn't need to be an agreement that there's an issue - Something as simple as "We are happy with the current balance of x item; here's why:"
There are a number of people in the community who have spent hours working on that thread with me, testing things in game, discussing about them. What more could you possibly ask? Perhaps I'm pushing my own agendas here - of course, I'm an armour tanker. But I tried hard to write a decent, unbiased discussion, and nothing has happened.
I've heard the odd rumour that there's no dev post because CCP don't want to interfere with the discussion. If this was true, the result of this is that everyone contributing to that thread is tired, feels impotent, and really can't be bothered anymore because frankly, why should they bother?
I can understand why the forums have devolved into mindless QQ, because the constructive posters have simply gotten tired and left.
I'm taking a break for two weeks now. I wonder if there'll be a dev post when I return. Probably not. |

I've had a few replies on my Dropship topics, but they were few and far-between, and often had no real basis in what they were actually doing instead of saying. That was CCP Blam, however, and now with his out-ing I'm sure the main issue that we aren't getting any vehicle related replies is because they are still in the process of setting their new vehicle dev up and getting him/her familiar with what's needed of a dev. |

Okay, i agree that that's a **** ton of words, and i failed at seeing that lol, and I agree if it takes more than 1 topic post to write it all out, it's probably too much, let alone 2 more and then 3 more... it does dilute the real issue a bit |

When discussing the implications of tank (not HAV) balance between the shield and armor lines a lot of depth is needed for a legitimate analysis or proposal. And frankly there are enough different aspects of the armor mods internal scaling and role utility that need some attention to warrant quite a few words on them alone, even if no comparison of tanking types were required (which it most certainly is).
I also say this as someone who has proto tank in both armor and shields, I've used each and I've use both side by side. The aspects that need an address simply require more space than that. Also just because something is long does not implicitly mean that it is either overly complex or that it meanders off point.

I always considered you as my more level-headed counterpart on the armor tanking issue. Im very passionate about this game and am quick tto get heated when I think CCP is giving us the run around. Ive worked to be more calm and think of what Im going to say, to at least act civil and polite.
but... Seeing this post is very disheartening. Makes me think that the players who give me inspiration and hope are themselves losing hope. That worries me. Best we can do isbe patient and wait. |

I will have you know the thread about Shields vs Armor has been intently watched by the developers. There are plenty of times a developer feels it is far more healthier for a thread to remain clean of their influence because I am sure you have seen threads before where if a dev posts it goes off topic, or off rails. |

They could at least post a link to it with some hints that it's being considered in the Weekly Updates thread?
Or, as people have mentioned, they could take the fact that it's already been well-talked-through and consider now to be the right time for dev input. It's definitely not as active in that thread any more, at least with regard to new information and suggestions. |
