*The unofficial embassy's next guest, clad as a Minmatar scout, enters at a light trot, then glides to stand to one side of the door while she surveys the room, her helmet's movements abrupt, precise, birdlike. Clone soldiers being what they are, there's no such thing as a "small" member of the breed, but this one somehow gives that impression while standing the usual seven feet tall*
*the suit's single, luminous orange eye alights upon the embassy's proprietor, and the helmet cocks to the right. She then bows, formally*
Respectful greetings, Mr. Kalamari.
*the Intaki words come from the scout's arm unit, rather than the helmet. Apparently the wearer is using a translator program*
It is pleasant to finally meet you in person. I noticed you had registered a space here. You seem to ... represent your people very well. My apologies for appearing unannounced. |

She leaves the wall, trotting forward toward the offered chair. "Thank you," the arm unit continues in the Intaki language, "I will be fine."
She sits. While etiquette among most soldiers would dictate the removal of helmets for a face-to-face office chat, etiquette among clone soldiers is quite the opposite: not only do they all look the same, but no stock clone is even slightly built for aesthetics, even if the "look" (which baseliners achieve via shaved heads, far too much basic-white makeup, and color-draining contact lenses) is catching on in the occasional Gallentean nightclub.
So, the helmet stays on. It's more personal to the wearer than the face beneath it is, anyway.
"I noticed that there seemed to be a physical 'Summit' location to go along with the usual galnet forum, and thought I would stop by to see what the effect of giving such a diplomatic space a ... physical space might be. It seems the Amarr have set up rather an elaborate compound down the hall....
"I like the contrast very much."
She cocks her head the other way.
"Your 'recreational' clone suits you well. Respectfully, you do not find it disorienting to change height so often?" |

"It seems as though it would be like moving into a separate world where everything is much shorter, then back again. It would shake my sense of reality to do such a thing."
The suit's single orange eye wanders the room, taking in the simple decorations, lingering over the artwork.
"It seems somehow ... fateful ... that two of the earliest adopters, here, are peoples of faith. ... Or philosophy, if we choose to define your beliefs so. I'm sure the people who established this place thought it would be full to bursting with mercenary recruitment offices, but wouldn't it be fun if the pattern continued? ... A shrine to the Winds, another to the Matari spirits and deities....
"With the rate at which Achura seem to be appearing on the IGS, perhaps we'll one day have an office here, ourselves." |

The scout bows her head. The translator speaks from her wrist more quietly.
"Once, I would have leaped at the opportunity, Mr. Kalamari. It is a long story, but ... in essence, I am clever, but far too aware of it. Until I learn ... humility ... I am unfit to lead, or to teach.
"It is a difficult thing for a proud soul to learn. It is difficult for pride to learn anything at all. But important." |

Yun Hee rises a moment after Denak to stand beside her chair. Her Minmatar scout suit's single ember eye peers at the newcomer in silence. She bows formally, however, when Denak does, only in the Achur fashion, and a bit lower than the Intaki bowed. |

Still silent, the scout again bows as Denak nods, a formal, respectful gesture. |

Yun Hee glances at Denak. "Well ... your neighbors are friendly, at least."
She turns, resuming her seat.
"Um ... about what you were saying, before: please do not take my words as reflecting on your remarks on GalNet. Banter is ... not so important a thing." She pauses, drawing a slow breath.
"Insight is. The search for understanding-- to see, clearly, our place in this world. It is at the center of my faith. Before, I sought to explore-- to establish, really, a new path. I somehow ... convinced myself that my insight was keen enough, and that I was honest enough with myself, to guide others.
"If I were Amarr, I would have been a heretic. Since I am not, it's a little more subtle, but my work was destructive in a similar way: I was right enough to be truly, horribly wrong. The 'path' I laid out led into desolation. Perhaps that was the only way it could have led, but even if that is true I should have been marking it with warnings instead of way marks.
"Fate has been kind enough to grant another chance. I must not allow my pride to cloud my sight again ... or to poison others' understanding." |

The blue mask looks away, the single eye seeming to examine the paintings on the wall. A long moment passes before the wearer speaks again.
"We are not the first infomorphs to walk New Eden, Mr. Kalamari. But ... as of yet, we may be the least compromised.
"If a soldier is so poisoned in spirit that he does not care whom he kills, or how, or how many, we call it a sickness. But suppose almost all soldiers are likewise poisoned? Suppose he is estranged from all humanity as his heart grows ever colder, ever more distant-- and yet he continues to be valuable, and continues to be rewarded, for the services he provides? Suppose his immortality is a reward, in effect, for doing these things? Is it still a sickness if the sickness is endemic, tolerated, even valued? Perhaps this is not sickness, but metamorphosis? Perhaps this is what he is supposed to be?
The mask's eye returns to regard Denak.
"One should not expect a farmer to pursue a soldier's morality. To what standard, then, should we hold a monster? What is the correct path for a useful demon to walk?
"In another life, that question consumed me." |

Her reply, again, is soft.
"You ... misunderstand, a little, Mr. Kalamari. Those questions are very sadly not hypothetical-- and, happily, they are not yet for us. Perhaps they will never be.
"If they never are, if we are never anything darker than mercenaries-- which is plenty dark, really-- that will likely be for the best."
She sighs, twisting about to glance over the back of her chair into the hall before settling back again.
"I apologize for being cryptic." |

The suit's head cocks to the right. The translator's voice, though still soft, takes on an eerie sing-song, no doubt faithfully conveyed note for note from the dropsuit's occupant.
"What do all sane spacers fear, Mr. Kalamari? What raids datastores, crushes fleets, burns habitats, shatters stations? What bathes in vacuum as though it were a fresh spring morning, wears a weapon of mass destruction like a surrogate body, and stalks its own kind along with its victim's luckless servants for no greater purpose than the pure delight of the hunt and kill?
"What creature is so toxic in its doings and influence that the baseliners name it 'God of destruction?'"
The helmet tilts to the other side, tone flattening even as it intensifies nearly to a hiss.
"A capsuleer, of course." |

The scout slumps back in her chair. "Gods and spirits.... Mr. Kalamari, I am sending you a series of data files; these will perhaps help ... explain things."

"Me?...
"The pod interface and clone soldier implant are incompatible technologies. They occupy the same portions of the skull-- and, in our case, appear to fully replace parts of the brain." She pauses a moment, mask impassive. "The author of those works was a capsuleer drowning in poisoned icewater, like so many of her colleagues.
"Of course, 'incompatible' is not quite the same thing as 'non-transferrable.' But I am not the person you see there. That person, a capsuleer with years of experience already behind her who feels the Black gripping her soul and struggles to understand what is happening to her, and what she should do about it, is dead.
"I survive, and I am quite a different creature. If we are to drown in poison ourselves, it will probably be of another type." |

Her head cocks to the other side yet again.
"Nonsensical...?"
Her tone is gentle as she rises to her feet.
"Mr. Kalamari, is a ghost the same as the person she is the ghost of? Jenneth-guri is dead, but then, so is the man whose face you wear. If I am not she, it is because that death was much like waking from a dark dream.

Yun Hee bows formally.

She takes his hand, shaking it with the slight awkwardness of one for whom this is an unfamiliar gesture, then bows once more and takes her leave. |
