There are already good discussions for PVE ideas and if you like to talk about it, you should head over there.
I would like to know (if itGÇÖs possible) how far is he progress of the PVE development. CCP can you tell us a % number? Or maybe in words like, GÇ£we are half way doneGÇ¥? I donGÇÖt think that I will live long enough to actually enjoin some of the PVE fun in Dust (IGÇÖm already 29 and considering the speed of this game progress GǪ), but still this is THE biggest point of interest for me personal. Just because I think that there are extremely amassing possibilityGÇÖs which could be done.
What does the community thing? Is the PVE stuff already done and CCP is keeping it back for some marketing reasons for example try to boost the game one more time? Or do you think CCP never really started working on it? Maybe they are GÇ£alreadyGÇ¥ halfway done?
My opinion on this is very clear; PVE should have been in the release right from the start. GÇ£ItGÇÖs freeGÇ¥ is not an argument for releasing a not even half way finished game (but this should not be the place to discuss it). If we would already have PVE, new players could enjoy it and stay with the game, rather than getting pub stomped. (Again, the matchmaking should have been there right from the start)
PS: I really tried hard this time not to troll that much, because IGÇÖm interested in PVE, but some things canGÇÖt be avoid completely.

PvE wasn't in the start, because it's not the focus. PvE will come later, not far away, but not super soon. I'd imagine, it's the next big thing to come, just like PC was the big thing with Uprising. So maybe in 2.0 you will see it. CCP has already said these point releases like 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, etc.. won't be content releases. They've said they're focusing on fixing and advancing the core. So expect performance and gameplay improvements, among others things.
IIRC, The New Player Experience is their #1 Priority. The Matchmaking System is being completely re-written, as an example. |

Im hoping for Christmas this year. They said months and months ago that they had an "in-house" version of PVE to play that was pretty fun, its just that they weren't very focuses on it, and were looking at different ways to incorporate it first. Recently they said that 1.3 will be nothing special, but the next BIG patch will be. So im hoping to either get industry or PVE by this Christmas because that's right about when the next BIG patch should be coming, and those are the only two BIG things that they could feasibly put in right now. |

It would be nice for you, and I hope your dream can come true, for me it is irrelevant. The PS4 is heading this winter, so from a certain point I will be instant uninterested in Dust till it hits PS4. But I would wish it for you and a couple of friends who are really interested in PVE.
PS: If PvE is not the focus in this game, then IGÇÖm wasting my time here. I want to have a game with a balanced gameplay in PvE AND PvP, if dust canGÇÖt give this to me, then I will leave it and it wouldnGÇÖt even matter how much this game has improved. Shooting people in the face is fun, but what I need is diversity.

hmmmm good points i suppose..... though i mean..... dust is coming to the PS4 you know?? Not instantly, no. But a few years down the road it will. LOL i cant imagine the nightmare developers will have changing the in-house code to match it. I hope there starting now so it wont take too long later. |

CCP never officially say it, but yes I do think that it will move to the ps4 someday. And with the Unreal engine it should be very easy btw ;).
The problem I see is that CCP is to slow. Too late with the idea of Dust 514, to slow to build up this game after the release and they are probably going to be to slow on the PS4. And what is the backup plan for AAA titles like PS2, Destiny and The District? DonGÇÖt get me wrong, I donGÇÖt like PS2, I think that it is boring, and the last time I give this game a chance I was bored nearly too dead AND shocked be the amount of pay to win. But Destiny will probably be something different, from what I saw in the videos of E3, it will be the game most FPS players are hoping for. A persisted world with a huge diversity and IGÇÖm more than ready to pay 60Gé¼ for a finished game that is going to last + maybe some (in my opinion) wise shop items. We will see.
IGÇÖm not saying Dust is dead or going to die, but CCP will have a hard time. They will have some core players, who will stick and stay with this game, but others will earn some golden donkey balls, and letGÇÖs be honest here, money is the reason for games to deliver games in the first place.
IGÇÖm very curious what the future holds.

Or, from a different perspective, they are ahead of the game. I can't think of another game attempting to have a real-time interface in the same universe with a different type of game (Eve), on a different platform (PC.)
Don't get me wrong, I hear you and the frustration with respect to the content and the fact that PS4 is coming out. just looking at DUST in relation to other shooters, In terms of content roll-out, game maturity and being relevant on the latest gen platform, they are slower than the competition.
But, this is all about more than Dust as another shooter. I look forward to the day when I'm hiring Eve pilots to bring me to exotic locations to fight, or when I'm boarding their ships and stations to take the fight skyward and doing Eve-side monetary damage.
The main challenge CCP has right now is keeping the game alive and the interest level high enough to realize these long term goals.

Yes CCP is the only company I have heard of who are trying this. And this goal is something very ambitious, at the same time the same universe is very irrelevant for us, this game could stay even without eve, all it needs are some fake planets. CCP really needs to figure out how to make the GÇ£same universeGÇ¥ to a single universe.

I fear this will take a long time.
I wish for this game to succeed, it would leave its mark on the market and other companies would try to mimic some Ideas and concepts and stop lunching every 6 months a new CoD. For me as a player there are two things important if it comes to multiplayer games. Diversification and persistence, I donGÇÖt want to invest time and money into something that will live for only a year or less. But I need variety and chances.

I'm really looking forward to PvE and the silence from CCP is frustrating. It could do wonders for dust if it was decent - It would provide a place for people to get away from the constant pubstomping, for one, as well as a potentially fun experience for getting isk. |

Yes and don't forget my friend, there are SO MANY(!) other multiplayer FPS out there that it's easy to lose the track of them all. And how much PvE FPS do we have? I mean where you can team up with some friends and do some intense fighting and getting a reward afterwards? Borderlands? :)
I know that the Multiplayer FPS out there all filling they small gap like GÇ£hit and runGÇ¥, vehicles combat, Mechs and so on. But that is exactly what I mean, IGÇÖm so fed up from this, I want something new! Massive coop PVE content!

Sure, let's not bother with some potentially fantastic content because it means that proto vet squads won't have quite as many newbies to massacre. There will always be people doing PvP. |

How can you discern what should have been included in the start? You know, when I come to the forums, its all about demand and "people will leave this game if they get bored" but in the actual game itself, I don't hear those talks. I hear nothing but enthusiasm.
Let CCP work on the core mechanics. If PVE was out now, I'm pretty sure you would find something about that to complain about. Cause usually when I see your threads and a couple of others, I automatically envision the world's tiniest violin playing.
Dust 514, when viewed objectively, is a major undertaking for CCP. This should be understood and taken into consideration by the community.

You misunderstood. I've been here for ever a year now and I've been calling for PvE since last September.
I'm giving you the CCP perspective. All non-tryhard non-protobear-squadding people would just go into PvE. You'd be left in a cesspool of few hundred tryhards and this would increase the burnout rate of players (which is ridiculously high even now due to lack of content). I know, for one, that If it was decent I'd be spending a lot of time there, especially in co-op with my buddies.
Somehow CCP is not big on new content and I'm trying to rationalize their decision. I'm not defending it, just saying that they don't care about players.
I mean -- most of us want PvE, but we're still here grinding on those 5 or 6 maps every week, right? Why would they ever listen? |
