I-¦m guessing that CCP is looking for the right solution for this problem. Red lines, AFKing and so on.. Us/the beta players have tried different things in the past and I-¦m 100% sure CCP will cough up a fix for this sooner rather than later.
I think most of us agree that AFKing needs to stop. this is ruining 2 many games at the moment. |

CCP can't afford to do anything.
1) Player numbers would dive - although we are probably getting close to "rusted on" support 2) New players would not have any effective SP gain path other than being reamed over and over 3) Player retention would be even worse than now |

What do you mean?
AFK is a small isolated problem. Just put in an inactive timer... how hard is it? It's taken over A YEAR, they must have got SOME sort of progress. |

Yes I agree, but finding a solution to idlers has been basically the Holy Grail of online game developers since last century.
I think you're asking too much.
The point being though, I don't think CCP dare. AFK is the game's PVE.
It's the paradox where CCP feel they must destroy the village to save it. |

If your hypothesis is correct why would CCP not simply pulled the trigger to banish AFK?
Or is all you have consist of cheap personal slights?

AFKing is not a problem, but a solution for most.
Much like in EVE, the bad kids that spent day in and day out in the game will try to pick on the new people, because, well, why not? Oh. That's right. They'd be stomped out otherwise if they tried it with anyone else but someone that doesn't know how to play.
Moreso, the entry of new players into this game is... monstrously lopsided in such a way that most play a game or two and leave. Why? Because this is New Eden. The fact that the game's mechanics are already broken, I'm not surprised that a lot of people that have played since beta leave after a while. Abandoning the sinking ship.
So no, I'm not going to down AFKing. It seems that the only way to enjoy Dust 514 is to not play it. |

CCP what the flying superman is this sort of game?
Don't you realize AFK is hurting the gameplay of people actually playing the game actively, as in not AFKing? |

I tried really hard to enjoy the game since the beta. I... can't. I just can't anymore. There used to be an unspoken code between people, you know. Protect one another, kill the enemy. It didn't matter about who got the kill back then.
I protect my comrades. I see someone darting across open land getting shot at, I'll sure as hell beam around that corner to lay down support fire. I've charged tanks and won for my team. I suppose I'm too old fashioned for this sort of age of shooters.
This game would of excelled in the early 2000s. |

It's the best thing about this game the ability to still get rewards without playing this glob of depression. If they take out AFK I promise this game loses another 40% total population. |

Those that are AFK'ing are welcome to leave IMO, they are a waste of team slots and give nothing to a match. I'd be happy to see numbers dive, because at the end of the day an AFK'er is basically wasting resources. |

Afking is not isolated problem it's in every match now. It needs to be stamped out because it promises you that u have lost a match before you have even started. personal I would haveva player base hit knowningly it would make matches fun again. You say that but who will you play against with only 60% of 3k assuming the numbers don't take more dives after more let downs. Ever occur to you WHY they added EVE numbers with the Dust numbers? To fool you that it's a active game... |

An AFK player is not contributing to dust, they are not adapting to the FotM, they are losing skill so when they do decide to play they will still be stomped, which reinforces the negative cycle of afk'ing. Why would anyone login to a game, join a match to do nothing but afk for 20m is beyond me.

I have seen minimal afking lately but I spend more time in FW than anything else.
However, afking is always going to be an issue in every game ever that has some sort of skill based system that requires currency to rank those skills.
I think a valid option would be to have war points be included more into the math behind SP/ISK reward. If you have zero war points, then that is fairly suspect. |
