In theory, we could use Microsoft Flight Simulator for dropship training.
Dropships are very expensive to train with. However, it should be possible to use a PC gamepad/controller and customise a helicopter in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Has anybody tried this? |

DUST probably wouldn't work if most people wanted to be a dropship pilot. So it's a good thing that it's a long, hard, and expensive road to become a decent dropship pilot. |

I think you can adjust the physics in Microsoft Flight Simulator. |

Actually, I don't think it's the physics that is much different in DUST - it's the way the dropship handles - it's like a balsawood toy. |

Yes! I read your guide on dropships! I think it's the best one!
It inspired me to take things further.
I'm going to try to use Microsoft Flight Simulator to make a Python simulator. It should take me a couple of months. If it works, I'll post the file on the forums. |

It's a Eurocopter AS 350 B2 |

Duck Drahko wrote:I don't think it's all that expensive to be honest. I'm less than two weeks in the game, and I've had plenty of dropship practice, so I'm starting to feel comfortable with them (I'm still pretty useless when it comes to actually killing things, but I'm not too sure how a flight simulator would help with that). I just started practicing assault dropships on an alt, since Academy is a much safer environment for them (admittedly buying the skill books for that is pretty expensive).
It just takes a couple of matches or so to afford a new dropship when it goes down, that doesn't seem too bad? IMO the biggest cost in learning to fly dropships is injured pride, but we can all afford that!
I think I need to practice using a helicopter simulation first - and go through a flight tutorial 'first hand'.
It's because it doesn't look at all instinctive to me - it looks difficult.
In theory, I don't think people should be losing dropships, but reading these forums, a lot of people lose many dropships. |

it's because on the flight sim forums, MFS seems to be the most popular.
In fact, somebody has already done a dropship sim for it, but it's for Halo though. |
