I'm having problems with the Nova Knives hit detection since 1.2 was released. In the past 10 games I have played I have noticed an increasing amount of damage that is not applied to the enemy when a direct hit is scored. The problem mainly lies with moving targets, however, I have had issues with stationary targets as well such as snipers. The hit is registering as a hit, but the damage is not taken by the enemy. Also, sometimes when I strike a blue shield strike registers like I am hitting a friendly instead of a red dot.
For example, the last game I played I popped out from a corner right in front of a guy as a surprise ambush and I applied a fully charged hit from a proto knife right to the face with no damage applied. I chased him while he was shooting at me and continued to hit him 4 more times all with no damage given. Meanwhile he is still frantically shooting at me and finally gets me because my damage is not going through to him. This is happening at least a couple of times every single match I play in and is resulting in quite a few deaths that shouldn't be my fault.
This is causing me to absolutely pull my hair out in frustration. I have since switched to a Militia Shotgun and dual SMG fits(since my other points are in SMGs) and am not having nearly the amount of problems as with the knives. At least with the shotgun and smgs if I don't do damage it is because I suck at aiming them instead of having my damage negated due to some "mystical force". If other Scouts are having the same trouble please post so it is heard by CCP.

It's not about the weapon. In arms reach a blade in the hand of a skilled wielder is just as effective as a firearm. It's about the hit detection.
I haven't experienced this yet with my alt as far as stationary targets are concerned, but when I was on the heels of a running sniper, he was running after my initial charged strike, and every strike of the five registered as a hit but only the last one did damage, then we have a problem. It feels more like CCP put fall off and absolute damage on the knife as well which should be all optimal if it lands a hit within it's strike range.
I would like to see a sword variant of the nova knife that would fill a light weapon slot with a range 1.5 to 2 meter range. Blade length and damage increasing from basic to proto. |

I have been experiencing the same thing in regards to moving strikes with the Nova Knives. Ever since 1.2, kills I used to make have become impossible. My fully charged assassination strikes on stationary targets are still going through, however the death used to be instantaneous. Now, the full kill damage doesn't seem to apply until after the full whoooosh-snick animation completes. Snipers and hackers I get from behind now have a half second to start to turn, instead of instant death. Sprinting after targets. and leap-charging know no longer is a viable method, and quick-strike dancing seems to do no damage at all since I am landing hits, and if a teammate kills them, I get no assist. Reduced attack speed (compared to the knives)? If so then swords would be awesome!

I speced into scram rifles my hit detection on knives are so bad... nearly have the scram rifle skill to 4... CCP FIX HIT DETECTION ON MY KNIVES SO I CAN USE THEM!!! I only use my knives in a squad now just cuz its a faster suit and better at support, FIX THE HIT DETECTION i'm constantly in a 30 sec dance with assaults I lose due to the hitbox increasing as I move and hit detection... seriously I can sneak up on a MLT SNIPER with my ZN-28 knives charge them WHAM no dmg, than he turns around blindfires his sniper rifle and kills me due to my hitbox increasing to much.

lol? that sure explains why my mlt AR lands 99.9% more hits than my Nova Knives same as my ADV scram rifle. |

Yes, this deeply upset me. After Uprising I poured all my SP into Proto Nova Knives. I got pretty good with them. 1.1 gave me a hit delay between my strike and when my victims received damage. 1.2 Completely and totally wrecked it.
Needless to say, I am glad for the second respec.
I hope it has been fixed in 1.4. |

Created this thread a little over a month ago. Patch notes from 1.4 state that hit detection fixes are being implemented so we shall see if it fixes the issue. I know Shotgun has it really rough too right now. Hopefully, 1.4 delivers the goods for both weapon classes. |
