First,, I would like to say I do not mean to break any forum rules with this thread. I do not intend to rant/start rants, this is not a "troll" (as in the "this guys just looking to incite some hate" kinda way), or anything of that nature. With that said, I ask this: How should the Dust514 community (including GM/Devs & Mercs alike) act towards the straight up bullying of a competing game?
I have thus far viewed the Planetside 2 propaganda as a mild tongue-in-cheek, ignore them kind of way. But, enough is enough.
How can this reflect positively on the developers of said game (and now others)? How can this form of tactic be condoned? This is very much impeding on the progression and overall enjoyment of this game. Thus, hurting it even more.
I truly love this game. I come to these forums looking for advices and to enjoy in the great role-playing of this game. Considering the state of the current harassment by another games players (or who knows, they might be working for them...yeah, I went there) enjoyment of this forums services are now unbearable.
Damn the bomber to Amarr Hell if this post means they are winning/won. I need to know that we as Dusters can put aside our BS to at least say "this game is what we enjoy & kitten you if think you can force feed us your crappy game."
That is all. Eriknaught out. Long live Dust514, o7. END TRANSMISSION.
side note: To the Dvs and GMs, if anything I said ^up there strikes as anything you don't want said, please lock/delete this post. Of all the toes I may be stepping on, I really don't want to be stomping on yours. |

I get really tired of all the QQ sometimes. I enjoy dust - the core mechanics work now, though the odd bug or poorly balanced item is frustrating, I have fun. Pointless, nonconstructive feedback which basically amounts to whinging is far too frequent on this forum. |

Personally I haven't viewed the PS2 forums, but perhaps they're flooded with DUST 514 advertisements?
...Although I think it's safe to admit some of the gameplay footage of PS2 DOES outweigh what we have available that really shows the true nature of DUST.
Recording on the PC is so much easier and free (if you know where to look ) though, so I suppose that's another monster to deal with entirely.

I'm having a good time with this game as well. I don't see any solution to the PS spam master other than to recognize the new name tag, and avoid those posts.
I wish there was something else that could be done, but I can't think of anything. I didn't realize Dust was so much of a threat... oh well.
And I continue to be amazed that someone is actually wasting their time doing this, for the sake of whatever self-respect I hope this looser has, I really hope they coded a script to do this.... (somehow.)

Planetside 2 has ideas that are great in concept, 100+ aerial assault is pretty cool. However it looks like some Disney/Halo made outta Mega Blocks lame dumb crap. Dust514 is to the grit as bad-kitten as you want it to be. Keep the faith.

First off it's just one guy, some think it's NC Stewie who started the whole Dust 514 vs PS2 war long before Dust 514 was even playable and he's getting around the security protocols being established since what he is doing is a good practice run for any future possible bot spammers from oh say a **** website or gamblers or pyramid scheme sellers. Right now 'Stewie' is rotating IPs, Wasting 30 minutes, and making multiple accounts now.
Secondly there is a compromise between being secure and able to give access to the forums to players under reasonable consideration. This is why vulnerabilities exists in every software because you have to let someone access it. CCP wants to ensure they do not entirely disenfranchise anyone or overly restrict forum access outside of reason. So right now there is consideration in bumping up the requirement some more but to something reasonable and to something that would force our dear old bomber to actually put in the effort to play our game and wasting hours of his time.
Web, Security and Community Teams will continue to try to curb the behavior while making sure the new guys get forum access reasonably after shortly after starting the game.
Also as a Planetside 2 player on probably the most dying server there are massive massive foreboding flaws and design direction that game is heading down. With every new patch they put out the closer to battlefield insignificance the game is shifting just about and at this rate I can see Battlefield 4 stealing more players out of planetside 2 than PS2 is taking away from Dust 514.
The forums over there are lamenting much worse than we are atm over there accusing the developers of not listening to any of the players at all and doing exactly the opposite of what the game needs. For example they have been decentralizing fights when possible. An example Dust 514 side would be moving all the defender spawns inside Gallente Comms, and putting all the capture points for gallente Comms well and far beyond the outside of the walls of it. Then in the next patch move all the spawn points just as far away from comms in middle of the open. That's the current state of planetside 2. In an upcoming patch they're going to give 'every player' the ability to call in their own orbital strike whenever and wherever. |

Yup,I think he went by Stewie360 on the MAG forums, and he was trashing Dust well before anyone was even playing it,and holding the sack of PS2.
I recently upgraded my PC and played PS2.At first I thought it was pretty decent, but the more I played it,but more I started to dislike it.The grind is waaaay too long to get anything good(about 60 hours to earn enough certs to get ONE gun),and that's done by design. It seems like the F2P model is to make the grind so long to get so little that you grow impatient, and finally cave in and use real money to even compete.Blacklight Retribution does this, and so does PS2.While Dust is a grind,I feel like the grind isn't nearly as long, and I feel like you get more for what ever time you put into it.
Now that being said,Dust has some MAJOR problems that it still has to overcome, which in all honesty,I don't think it ever will.I love Dust as a concept, and for it's potential, but in execution,CCP still has a very long way to go and in a very short amount of time before people move on permanently.
