First off I don't really see a huge need for any respec. With the exception of a screw up on ccp's part. That said the nerf hammer can sometimes utterly destroy some items/skills. In such cases it might be nice to move those points. There must however be a cost to that. So I figured I would drop an idea that I've been kicking around for a bit.
With this respec you can only choose one skill at a time. You can't select a skill that has other skills branching from it. Unless you have no sp in those other skills. You must first choose those skills and go through this whole process for each.
For example you want to drop the smg and go flaylock pistol. You currently have the smg to 4 and the ammo to 5. You would have to start with the ammo skill first. Then after that has finished start the smg skill.
Now to the cost of this respec. You would want this to be open to the largest amount of players. In order to do this the cost must be payable in both isk or aurum. I figure 1,000,000 isk or something small like 500ish aur should work. This is non refundable and taken once you select the skill for respec. On top of this so is all the sp in the skill.
There is also a second cost to this respec. One third of the total sp in the selected skill is lost. You also do not recive the other two thirds back untill you earn sp equaling the one third lost. You can still allocate any sp you earn however you like. The system is only tracking your earned sp to that amount. Also boosters do count towards your totals.
Here is an example.
Let's say I have 100,000 in skill X. I choose to respec it and pay my 1,000,000 isk. All skill points on the skill are gone too. The system removes 33,333 sp and stores the remaing 66,667 sp. I now must earn 33,333 sp through any combo of active and/or passive sp. At which time the system deposits the 66,667 sp into my unallocated sp pool.
This is just a rough idea and numbers. Still I'm sure this could work rather effectively. While still keeping it obvious that your choices have consequences. If you dropped a million+ sp into something. Well you should have known long before that you did not want it. But you still can fix it with some time and effort. |
