when the Laser, HMG, or Scrambler rifle overheats we should beable to switch weapons. Isnt the fact that is damages us enough of a negative. Either eliminate feedback damage or allow weapon switches. Feedback damage and the inability to shoot is too much of a detriment to overheat IMO. |

That is the whole point of overheating. Avoid it. The only suggestion I've heard towards overheating that I like much is the thought of melee while overheated for increased damage. |

The blast of damage is not a penalty then? Even if they do not allow weapon switches allow something. Right now your weapon overheats and you have to literally just wait for it to cool off, no sidearm options, sprinting, or throwing a grenade. You just walk while it cools off.
Logically speaking it makes no sense to say that because your weapon overheated you are physically impaired and unable to set the weapon aside or move properly until it is cool enough. |

Agreed, if my gun turned to lava in my hands I wouldn't keep f'ing holding it and waving over it like a camp man at mardi gras. I would chuck that thing on the floor and pull out my sidearm, so what if my hands are burning, the dude in front of me has a whole gun full or burning hot something ready to throw at my face. |

How about: feedback damage starts off at something low, like 25 dps, but the next second it goes to 50,100,200,400 allowing us to continue to attack, but at the expense of suicide. Tl;dr (never figured out what that means) Allow us to continue to attack while overheated, but make the damage scale the longer we are in overheat, weapons cannot be switched while OH. Great mechanic when i told all my corp mates and such |

Would rather we kept over heat though I don't see why we can't run during that time, I don't want overheat and the lock up mechanism to go away....just let us bug out if we have to....not that I can anyway since Im such a slow armour tanked assault. |

It's Illogical to put an smoking hot weapon on your back and run....
I could throw it down and run off only to return to it later when it cools. Anything is better than just dieing. Right now the damage you take is considerable and if you are in a fire fight it ends it. Not being able to do anything during cooldown is just ridiculous as it pretty much ensures death after an overheat because you cannot fight back or run away. |

Why not allow switching weapons? Right now I overheat about as fast as I would have to reload an AR so it seems to fill the same role as a clip does to limit my DPS. Why should I not be able to switch to another weapon while it cools?
EDIT: Also AR gets a clip extension which furthers the time between reloads while I have to juggle cool times and if I make a mistake I get punished severely.
This could even be explained in weapon description by saying there is a special holster designed for the weapon to hold it safely while it is overheated or even explain that a metal suit that can take a half a clip or 5-10 seconds of laser can take the hot weapon at no penalty. |

make it so you can toss a overheated weapon to the ground. this frees up your ability to use a sidearm or grenade but then limits your main weapon abilitys as you then have to pick it back up. in combat it would be a gamble. if you make it so that the overheated weapon could be then picked up by the enemy if he wins that duel then there is the risk.
do you drop the weapon for a chance to kill the guy, but then risk dieing anyway or blowing it up with your own grenade or worse that player picks up your weapon and add it to his assets or do you try and wait out the cooldown and continue. |

Different weapons overheat different amounts. Scrams only hit you for 50 damage, but an overheated laser rifle can kill scout suits outright.
