It'll probably take me 4-5 days to get this done as I dont have a massive amount of dust time. |

I admire what you are doing, but I feel it may fall short of its intended purpose because of reasons outlined here. |

Not if you're crushed between a wall, and the HAV.

I will release the results of this epic recording of my deaths once I have 100 OMS games recorded.
That is assuming that people will use equipment according to how OP it is, which they dont. |

Malkai Inos wrote:Selection BiasYour findings, as an individual piece of data, won't have too much significance for anyone but players of roughly your fit, skill and play style. If you're a tank driver you will find that snipers barely exist. I if you're a sniper you would conclude that people apparently don't use any weapon at all. Gathering this data is a neat idea but we would also need a somewhat detailed description of your general play style, fit used, kd etc. to get any reasonable conclusions out of it. And don't even bother preprocessing your findings. Raw, quantitative data or GTFO Edit: To everyone who has done such experiments: Merge your datapoints and try to get as wide and balanced a range of play styles you can find. The more we get, the more usefull this information gets.
The only data they are collection is what is used the most, which IS NOT an indicator of OPness.
What would be more important is to note the weapon and gear used by players who continuously go 10-0 and better.
Played an academy game the other night, specced into just flaylocks, and went 27-1, with the advanced flaylock on a gallente suit. |

So, its the conmunities understanding of overpowered that is wrong. If I record my deaths for 100 games then you would expect the "overpowered" weapons to have killed me the most. If you say no because not many people use the "overpowered" weapon surely if I meet a guy using it I should die a lot more to him than anybody else boosting the tally for that weapon up at a faster rate.
Remember the reason I chose OMS is because thats where your most likely to meet the 'good' corps bringing with them these 'overpowered' weapons. |

The bare fact that one weapon is more common than another is interesting but not proof for anything on its own. Other possible reasons for a weapon being unusually common have to be found and accounted for first.
