The SP penalises those with bad aim. The FL encourages it. The improvement from standard to proto of a flaylock is over 100%. That is absurd by any standard. |

The flaylock also sucks at range while the SP is a beast if used properly...again, it's balanced.
Nearly all weapons suck at range, and nearly all weapons are beasts "if used properly".
The flaylock has massive dps, requires little aim, requires even less fitting space, and its "used properly" criteria involves shooting in the general direction of your enemy's knees, rather than having to land headshots with the SP, catching your opponents off guard with the SMG, or dedicating several million skillpoints to a fitting with the knives.
