Hi I was wondering if someone could help me out. I currently use mainly assault rifles but noticed that there are automatic scrambler rifles so I was wondering how they compare to assault rifles? |

The ASR can stand and trade with AR all day.

Pros: 130% damage versus shields.
Nice ACOG-like ADS
Cons: 70% damage versus armor.
They have a lot more spread than the Assault Rifle because there is no sharpshooter skill for them.
[*] They have the possiblity to overheat, though it'll take 2 clips to make that happen. |

They have incredibly sights (what laser rifles should have) and sound really good to fire. What they do to shields is nothing short of poetry, and of course since FOTM is heavily shield tanked Caldari logi... you get the idea.
If anything was going to convince me to ditch the scout suit and go assault this would be it. AR's are effective, but they aren't fun imo. |

I'd advice you try the basic variants of them because of the charge function. Put some damage mods on and you can end most engagements with a single headshod. The sheer damage output when charged makes is also viable well into falloff range if the enemy is not too armor heavy.
Also, there's literally no kick on the basic variands aswell as a RoF cap that is similar (or equal) to pre-nerf tac ARs which makes them the to go fix for disgruntled ex-tac users. |

This is a good point. You get to try one for 14k SP (therabouts) rather than 400k SP for the Assault version. I still haven't decided what is best. The basic one has a lot more hitting power per shot and the charge is very handy at times. |

I personally kinda regretted spending the skillpoints.. it sounded nice on paper (an assault rifle that does extra damage to shields? awesome! that'll show the callogi fotm scrubs!) but in practice... meh. It works, but the damage type isn't really as awesome as it sounds. Sure you chew through their shields... but then you get to their armor.
If you already have gallente assault rifles trained, why spend all the SP to crosstrain both "assault" rifles when you can just use the regular gallente assault rifle and do consistent damage all the way through?
The standard charge scrambler rifle is awesome though as noted above - even if your aim isn't so good, you can spam a lot of uncharged attacks before it overheats, it still does quite a bit of damage with no charge |

There are so pros and some cons of the ASR.
Pro's -Looks and sounds really cool. -Larger clip than AR. -More damage to shields (lots of shield tankers these days). -Slightly less CPU/PG than the same level SR. -Overheating is really not an issue.
Cons. -And then you get to the armor... I tend to get a lot of assists using this weapon because its just plain difficult to finish off armor with it. -Bounces around a lot after continous firing. (making finishing armor even more difficult...) -Doesn't seem to hit as hard as a AR, maybe because of the accuracy issue
Personally, I prefer the regular version of the SR to both the AR and the ASR for a few reasons. -It is a lot of fun and really versitile once you get used to it -the clip feels giant.. you can easily finish off any opponent without reloading (assuming you can aim) -it packs a very serious punch especially to shields -Very accurate!

As one who only used Amarrian equipment and weaponry I say yes but they are situation assault weapons not generic AR substitutes. |

I've used some SRs myself and I have a few tips.
1. Don't charge 90% of the time, you will overheat too quickly and if engaged, you will help kill yourself. 2. Spam the trigger instead, and keep an eye on the overheat. 3. Run Amarr Assualt. 4. Don't worry about running out of bullets in a magazine, overheating is probably gonna stop you from shooting first.
Good luck. |

^This is true. Go scrambler and you'll never go back. Seriously, if you're looking for something more exotic (and fun) than your average AR, give it a whirl. Plus the Carthum is just so sexy |

All I can tell you is the balac assualt rifle is the greatest weapon I have ever used. I have never used a scrambler, but I kill heavies in stand offs with gex, nothing stands and I mean nothing stands against a properly used balacs assualt rifle. |

An officer weapon vs a standard weapon
I'm not sure what the comparison here is supposed to be. |

I use the advanced ASR in my Commando fit (could use the proto version but I'd have to sacrifice a lot of mods and it would triple the price of my suit for what is slightly better weapon). For a while I thought it was decent but had trouble with the rare armor tanked enemies. After just one level in proficiency I noticed a huge change.
Despite what some may say, I believe it is a great weapon for most situations or at least whatever situations an AR is good for. |
