I was just thinking and realized that, aside from LAVs, vehicles aren't used all that often. Why is that? Then I realized that LAVs are the only free vehicles on the game! With them being free, players are able to test them out to learn if they would like to continue using them or not.
I propose that there be a free tank and dropship along with the free LAV! Now, now calm down. I know this would cause a problem so this is how I propose it be done:
Free, non-customizable, vehicles that are available only while in academy. This would mean removing the current free LAV for players out of the academy. The vehicles would also be considered "Academy" grade vehicles so there overall stats would be less then that of the militia rides (dude! it's free).
Why? New players should be aloud to try out everything the game has to offer b4 for choosing a path. Players that see tanks and think "I'd like to try that" are detoured by there price and would rather spend the ISK on building there dropsuite as there is less risk. This would also allow aspiring pilots to get the hang of flying for free b4 dumping butt loads of ISK and SP into dropships.
Along with the mentioned changes I would like for the current militia vehicles to be removed from the market (you can always turn them into loot drops) so that, after your test run in the academy, you have to make a decision. Stick with dropsuits? or Go into vehicles? Players that don't spend SP in vehicles would be out of luck as they would rely on those that have to give them rides, support, covering fire.
As a final peace to this I would like the first skill that allows you to use the specific vehicle type to also allow you to drive them. By this I mean if you don't learn to drive then...well...you can't drive This will, to some extent, resolve the problem blueberries stealing your rides. (hacked vehicles can still be driven but there active mods will be unusable if you have yet to learn to drive that type of vehicle)
Although I doubt it will be implemented I feel it would be a nice change and will get rid of a few (very few) murder taxis in the process.
Thoughts? Ideas? I'd love to hear 'em |
