FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Okay, when does everything usually "click" and people able to fly these things without dying a terrible self-inflicted death? I would like to get past this phase and start dying to forges ASAP. |

Skihids' guide
Skip to post 4 for instructions on first flights.
Those are the very basics. Understand that you have a huge flight ceiling now, and advanced manoeuvres can be practiced safely at high altitudes.
Starting low is good, however. It's keeps your movement in perspective. What I found very helpful starting out was telling myself I was going to land in a certain point, in a certain position, and simply keep trying until I succeeded.
Keep practicing, and soon you'll realise your frustrations with learning to fly are the least of your worries. |

I haven't used one in a while and last night I flew a HIVE up to a team mate. Well, it got ugly. Finally, I just jumped out and let the ship crash, deployed the HIVE and jumped off the building. This was something I was able to do previously so either I was really rusty, too true, or something changed.

I'm not so great as explaining things as Skihids, so search for his explanation at the bottom of post #3 of his guide.
Personally, I've just felt as if the dropships are slightly heavier, and barrel rolls seem to be much more difficult to execute. |

definetly different by 25%, not much, but the guide will tell you how to slow down, and stay steady while your gunner shoots people, so this guide is still accurate on how to fly and keep steady, and how to dodge forge guns and flaylocks :) |

The first drop ship I flew was actually summoned by the other side - I managed to kill the summoner and some other dude (small miracle) - and it was just sitting there.
My maiden flight involved clipping a bulding and hurtling off in a random direction before jumping out before the inevitable crash.
I had alot of fun - what's wrong with drop ships? Oh right - paying for them!
Also today I summoned a free ride, move away - then I see a drop ship come in. Okay, I hope aboard - he gets some air, then I see the health drop to zero. It's kind of nice that it doesn't just explode - you can jump! And I guess actually the ride I summoned crashed into the top of the drop ship as it was taking off - and so we ending up in a group repair tool bonding excercise on the ground below. |
