From what we have been told, and can see in the AR is that each racial "Assault Weapon" (SR, AR, Rail Rifle, etc) focuses on a different type of fighting style (Amarr = Tactical, Gallente = Assault, and I forget which Breach / Burst relates to)
The AR currently has all it's variants. It has the Tac, Breach, and Burst variants which is the Gallente take on each of the other race's styles.
Meanwhile the SR only has it's base version (Tactical), and the Assault variant. It is missing the Breach / Burst variants.
These should be added into the game. |

You've got the variants wrong.
There's no AR equivalent of the SR- the concept art of the SR was out early enough that this is easily plausible.
Partially from dev confirmation and partially my own knowledge on how racial variants are supposed to work: Gallente= breach Minmatar= burst Caldari= tactical
It's very likely that everything will have an "assault" variant which is more or less what the normal AR is now. Ofc, the assault rifle will probably get a name change to "plasma rifle" |

Lets get some gun game balance going here!! I don't really believe the laser rifle is in the same weapon class as the other "frontline" rifles so to speak, especially considering the Amarr already have a "frontline" rifle with the scrambler rifle. The laser rifle is more of a special weapon class.
That said, CCP has confirmed they are working on variants for the laser rifle which are supposedly coming "soon." |

Which, if using the same mechanics as the Breach and Burst varients of the AR, mean that neither will have a charge shot, meaning that the weapon skill bonus will still only apply to one variant.
Maybe the breach SR will still be semi-auto but have a hard cap or higher heat build up to restrict rate of fire. Then at least we'd have 2 SRs affected by the SR skill. |

How about they add the rest of the HEAVY and SCOUT racial suits before you go getting you panties in a bunch over Scrambles rifle variants. |

WRONG
Gallente (assault rifle) = assault Caldari (rail rifle) = breach Minmatar (combat rifle) = burst Amarr (scrambler rifle) = tactical
On top of that, each race will have variants to mimic the rifles of the other races. The scrambler rifle should therefore have a burst and breach variant.
Here is a link from CCP Remnant explaining it: The idea being that each race will have it's base variant be Assault, (Gallente) Burst (Minmatar), Breach (Caldari) or Tactical (Amarr) and then the variants are a specific race's take on the others using their own tech. So, you'd get an Assault Rail Rifle that attempts to somewhat mimic the behavior of the Gallente Assault Rifle and a Tactical Assault Rifle that attempts to mimic the Amarr Scrambler Rifle and so on. |

It's a bit easier to add in variants to a weapon that don't change the model, when they already have a good idea what each variant does. While I am anxious for the other suits to be added, they still require more complicated balancing (which CCP hopefully has done already) and the new art assets, since for some reason CCP seems adamant about not releasing placeholder variants without the art assets. |
