Arc-08 wrote:Ok, first of all Dropships aren't flying tanks, but assault dropships are meant to do some damage, and get some kills. but honestly a dropship won't go to extreme measures and risk his ship for 1 kill. the most kills i have ever gotten with my assault dropship was about 8, while the enemies i killed got well over that number. (average is about 3). Next to appoint courier VII: dropships don't overwhelm hardly anyone. sure dropships don't get blown up often by swarms, but swarms can be scary if they keep pounding away at you, even advanced ones. Next forge guns blow up dropships all the time, dropships hardly get any WP and when they swoop in for a single kill, they need to go very slow, and be fairly still for the side gunners to get a kill, then 3 hits of a forge gun or a bolas and the dropship is down. Yes dropships are amazing at hunting down militia tanks, and other crappy tanks, but if you have a good tank all you gotta do is put on a repper and go under a building, or let your forge gun buddy take him out.
To sum that all up, Dropships are able to dish out a bit of damage, but they are most definetly not OP against you, or your tank (LAV is another story) and they are very easy pickings for forge gunners and railgun tanks. sure unless you have proto swarms you won't blow up a dropship, but you can still be scary enough for him to hunt somewhere else.
Question are you a pilot? Because the pilots i know can use the cheap 120k dropships and with two people get a good bit of kills. Its the same with a tank or LAV the cheap ones are expendable but, the expensive ones most people only use them unless they have to.
Your right to an extent but there are some things i do need to add and change what you just said. Its true that the drop ships are like flying buses but how they are is up to the pilot. Sadly the standard dropship you cant really do much however you can make it so they can be a problem. Getting certain upgrades and giving it certain shields armor ETC, you'd be surprised how hard it can be to take them down. and the biggest worry is if they can spawn units within the drop ship from what i heard online the most reason why they are shot down is that once a dropship gets the ability to spawn units they can be a huge pain. They can fly and land wear ever and allow units to spawn withing the vehicle. Also believe it or not i do have a suicide ship for taking out heavy armored tanks. This method only works half the time and its not recommended unless you know what your doing and know whats going on, on the battlefield. I would pay 200k to make a craft to take out a 450k tank. Another good thing about them is that even though the gunners don't do as much damage but they are considered threats on the battlefield making them a distraction. Its hard to defend from 2 sides. Will you last long... probably not but, the increase chance of your team taking out the enemy increases. Now this thing with the forge gun a standard dropship yes they can be taken out with 3 hits but, It now comes to what they have on the drop ship. Example: My recon ship has the ability to spawn units inside it so i made it 2 shield extenders and 1 i think 120mm armor With armor and shield repair. Expensive yes very about 800k+ to make one. And it can take at most depending on the forge gun min 5-6 hits and max 7-8.
and most the stats are at level 5.
Now the assault drop ship is somewhat different. In most cases they cannot take out a lot of enemies but as i stated before it depends the skill of the pilot and what your ship has. If your rocking out militia gear or low level equipment odds are you will not do much. But a skilled pilot they can take out a good bit before they die. Also going under a building does not always work a skilled pilot can easily go low enough and still do plenty of damage sometime they can avoid getting show down. I know ive done it before. unless there tank is made to turn fast most of the time by the time a tank moves its canon the other direction the drop ship would have already moved. And also wile this is happening im pretty sure they would have called backup by then to help take out the tank.
What the dropship can do...is all up to the pilot and what he has on it.. So all im saying do not think so lowly of the dropship they can be very helpful and i think the price is fine were it is.
