Though out of character he is a cool guy. Like still having slaves is any more ethical. Oh man, I can go on and on with this one, but I must refrain. Find me in the IGS if you really want to know. |

Though out of character he is a cool guy. Like still having slaves is any more ethical. Do we have to explain to you the whole amarrian rhetoric on why that owning slaves in their case is ethical. I could've sworm I told you that most of my sp is towards amarr ships, I've read it, numerous flaws and all. Reading =/= Understanding, though you have a right to your opinion and I respect that. |

From a strictly non-RP standpoint,
I believe people read slavery in the Amarr society and equate it to slavery that existed here on Earth. However, they share little in common. On Earth, and especially in the US where I've studied more, slavery existed purely as a means of labor. People abused other people because they believed they were an inferior race and could control them. There was never any intention of freeing the slaves, and many owners treated their slaves badly (though certainly not all).
In Amarr culture, slavery is less of a means of labor and more of a right of passage. The Amarrians' acestors suffered through extreme hardships many millenniums ago, and it shaped the society around them. They truly believe that only through suffering the same hardships they once endured can a race come to understand the universe and live in peace. The Amarr have no intentions on ever holding a race as slaves indefinitely, they plan to release each race after they deem them understanding of the world, and this is supported by their actions in the past. The Minmatar too would one day be free and accepted as equals among their society. Furthermore, the owners do not treat their slaves badly and in fact it is Imperial law that the slaves must be treated with respect. Sure some may break the law, but as do any in a given society.
That is the gist of my argument, but I can go into further detail if requested. I am not saying that I agree with this on a personal stand point, but it is not really all that unethical as you may think. |
