1. The increased sprinting speed while strafing hurts tactical play. Having the highest sprinting speed while sprinting forward, and slower speed while sprinting sideways makes sense, because you have a choice between going fast and not being able to see around corners, and going slower and being able to see around corners. That's a trade-off that impacts the game. You could cross an empty space quickly by sprinting, and hope that you aren't seen. Or you could cross that same empty space with strafing, taking the chance that you'll be noticed, and moving slower, but at the same time you have the benefit of being aware of who might be there in the distance. But removing that trade-off simply increases the pace of the game while removing the tactical depth these two options bring.
2. Close quarters combat has become really random. Before the strafing speed update you could track the other person to a reasonable extent. With the new speed CQC has become more of a 'spray bullets in the general direction of the other guy.' It's especially apparent when you're fighting a scout in CWC. It really feels like luck is more of the bigger factor now in how these CQC fights play out, as opposed to skill. Also, I can imagine how frustrated the players specialized in CQC combat feel. Nova knives and shotguns are weapons that required precise aiming and timing even back in Chromosome. With the twitchy-ness that the new movement speed brought, those weapons are now even harder to use effectively.
3. It used to be you could flank an enemy, catch them out in the open and be reasonably sure that you could finish them off with an AR or TAR before they could get into cover. But with the new strafing speed even heavies are somewhat able to strafe and dodge incoming fire after being caught out in the open. What is the point of risking your clone to get into an advantageous and potentially dangerous position when your target can dodge and weave out of danger with just a bit of effort? It cheapens the effort of tactical play.
Strafing speed is the same as moving forward and backwards speed. What needs to be changed is a nerf to ADS movement speed, and make ADS tracking speed the same as your movement speed. This would stop the strafing gun fights and people actually have to aim instead of moving around in circles spray-praying. |

But more of my shots will land because my ADS speed is as fast as your movement speed, and since your hip firing you will probably get killed by me since most of your shots will miss, unless in really close CQC combat. |

You can dodge and the accuracy is almost pinpoint in imperial level, overheating is not a problem since pros always pause when their accuracy goes out of hand. The tactic is to spray left right your enemy if they move, but now that you won't move it will alot easier don't you think?
Close distance and hip fire them, or counter them with the same weapon; and it is a reduction not a stop, you can still move just very slow. |

You could but you would actually have to hold it, or you will just start wiggling in place. |

At the moment yes, but not if it was reduced. It would only work if your hip firing. |

Yes hip firing in dust is very accurate very tight clustering which so its very effective outside of ranges one would expect, while the ads movement cap you suggest is good it still doesnt take away from the fact that you can still put rounds accuratly on targets with hip fire in dust very obvious with the AR.
At close range or when crouching, but the more you wiggle the bigger your crosshair gets and thus your bullet dispersion is wider. And if hip firing does become a problem decreasing the accuracy wouldn't be to hard, right now wigglers are a bigger problem because it makes the gunplay comical and stupid at best. Its like playing vs COD drop shotters. |
