Do we know why the Amarr assault suit isn't at all suitable for amour tanking?
I may have missed a memo but I'd have thought of all the races it'd be the Amarr with a fitting like the Gallente assault.
Any explanations appreciated.

That 180 base armor I believe is the highest of the assault suit variants, so you already have a nice buffer of armor on top of an equal amount (180hp) of shield.

Also remember the Amarr Assault Suit has more stamina and regens it quicker than the other racial variants (it taps into the neurological system yadda yadda yadda - read the description).
I saw the potential for this, I guess what put me off it was the need to have a minimum of advanced level dropsuit skills before it's viable.
Out of interest, if you're successfully dual tanking one of these suits do you not have fitting issues with CPU/PG?
It's always been the fatal flaw of dual tanking in EVE, I just want to see if CCP eased off it a bit.

I feel bad for the Gallente. It's actually wrong that their assault bonus is to shields. It really does seem CCP aren't in the mind to amour tank anything... |

If I could dislike this, I would. Just because Gallente 'are' armor tankers, doesn't mean having a shield recharge speed bonus is a bad thing. Remember that unlike EvE armor tankers don't have a hull to fall back on if their tank breaks, in Dust, they die.
You're saying you'd prefer a bonus to an undeveloped shield with a long depleted recharge time than to the main tank you're fitting for? It sounds exactly like the dual tanking the amarr has, and just crazy on an suit set up for armour.
I see your point, but it's not a dual tanking suit. |
