So I've been tanking for a while now with mixed success (I'm a bit careless...) and I'm at the point where I can fund myself without running infantry (though I do anyway; it's more enjoyable with certain squad layouts).
My questions at the moment revolve around the efficacy of the different types of blisters; specifically, the Stanilised and Compressed. The Compressed seems inferior to the Scattered in nearly every way, and the Stabilised seems to cut into tank far too heavily to be of use.
At the very least, I've always got more mileage out of the Scattered variant.

Can't really comment on the large blasters, don't has enough experience as a tanker for that. I have however made much use of the small ones and they tend to follow the same principles. The stabilised have more range than any other type of turret, if you want to maximise engagement range with a blaster turret, that's the one you want. As or the whole compressed vs scattered, I've never really understood that, the scattered has just always been the better choice for it's sheer damage. |

Lorhak first here! some ranges second the compressed vs scattered is really turning speed VS heat and damage. range is so close to the same that its a non-factor here.
stabilized, i believe this is what you mean has some greater range but it is still a blaster, check out my ranges and make up your mind based on how far your usually engagement ranges are. it hits harder then other blasters at ranges past 80m.(i'll need to a full graph to show where it beats other blasters which i might do later) |

Thanks for the responses, guys (and thank you Cross for the bump!)
I've been experimenting (screwing around) with the ones from Mordu's; they seem to be extremely effective for AP, as long as you stay in the open; especially on Spine Crescent, you can lock Alpha right down. The range also means I can escape more easily :D Of course, doesn't really help against concentrated AV, and god help you if you go up against a prototype blaster of any stripe.
Also, I though I corrected my spelling in this post? ...touch keyboard... |
