So I'm a clone mercenary with nanites running through my veins and cybernetically enhanced muscles and when I run upto a railing I still have difficulty jumping over.
Can we either have a button press that lets us vault over railings/fences? |

I am guessing you are a heavy who can only jump half a foot. I too had this problem. I agree with you 100 percent on this matter. the jump height difference is to much. in my cal logi suit with no armor plates I can easily jump over other suits, and other logi/scout suits can do the same. CCP has stated in post's on here and at fanfest that they don't want the heavy to easily traverse the battlefield. with that said... bull sh*t.
the heavy suits jump height should not be increased but a vault capability should be present. |

it should be done automatically, but a momentaneus patch could be the "O" button. |

I think the X button would be better suited for vaulting over obstacles. It makes more sense to me if the same button for jumping is used this way. |

Yes, please add a vault capability. Also, fix the terrain issues so you can nerf bunny hopping into the ground. |

I suggested the 'O' solely because it is already used for ladders but I think you're right. It should be 'X' instead. |

climbing ladders should be automated. Should light scouts be able to climb it faster? I think so. It sucks how you have to use the stairs to go somewhere, you can't climb on this, you can't vault this. IF all enemies have to use the stairs to go to a place, then it is a choke point. On this note, how come there are some dead ends? Should be more fluid, so there can always be an escape route.
On some null cannons you have to jump to get on it, it's silly. you should be able to just walk over it. Hopefully ccp does something about this. |

The idea is sound but it also makes me think that jumping is actually a tactical part of the game. When playing as a scout, I navigate the map entirely differently than when playing as my Gallente medium as I use armour plates and can't jump as high. I think part of the tactical gameplay is to know these limitations and understand them, using them to your advantage when you can see others in these situations.
With that said, I do not object to the idea. I also think GÇ£oGÇ¥ should be used when vaulting, as GÇ£xGÇ¥ might produce unintended vaults of railings that you are simply jumping near. |

hmmm..maybe the speed of the vault can vary with different dropsuits/fittings. A heavy/armor tanker will take longer to vault over a railing than a scout/shield fit. |

Just tossing my vote here as well, I play heavy a lot and it really bugs me that my super suit can't jump more than a foot off the ground while vehicles go parading through the sky like we're on the moon. Personally I think everyone's jump height should be increased a hell of a lot, if a heavy can jump like 5 feet vertically, why can't a scout jump like 10 or something? Low gravity/super agility hasn't really been done (well) in an FPS yet and since we're basically in mech suits, why not!? |

A heavy/armor tanker will take longer to vault over a railing than a scout/shield fit. This so much. I think that the difference should be quite severe, so that really the only time a heavy or armour tanked suit should use this would be for convenience, a risky escape or a planned tactical advantage. Heavy suits should take maybe 3-5 seconds, with armour plates making the vault time closer to 5 seconds. Medium frames should take between 1-2 seconds, with armour plates increasing the time closer to 2 seconds. I'm not a mathemitician so any precise numbers someone could work put would be cool. |

shaman oga wrote:it should be done automatically, but a momentaneus patch could be the "O" button. But this way you could never take cover behind the rail or short wall and just fall to the over side and receive lethal dose of lead... The computer systems should do as little automatic things as possible. Some are OK, but not all of them imho.
Last night i have some "parkour" moments , jumping from roof to roof. And in the last second i'v missed the edge and fell down taking some shield dent. If there were more movement options i could just hang on the roof's edge and lift my clone on top...
This edge grabbing and hanging could be done automatically but letting go, shifting sideways while hanging, or climbing up should be left to my decision... |

Vaulting should be tied to sprinting. If you sprint directly into a waist high object you vault over it. If you're already standing right next to it you can just press sprint toward it to vault over. And crouch while sprinting to slide. |

Also, I still think it should be a contextual button press. How often do you saunter into cover? More likely you're sprinting into cover to avoid fire and oops! You just vaulted over making yourself a perfect target.
I think the reasons already listed are reason enough to make it a button press of circle: - No accidental vaulting when jumping (so it can't be GÇ£xGÇ¥). - No sprinting because you often sprint into cover, vaulting over the railing or box you were trying to use as cover is bad. |
