the idea is neat. a faster moving heavy suit with two light slots instead of a heavy and sidearm
the execution doesn't make much sense. here are the downsides to the above listed upsides *it's horribly expensive, 20% price increase on basic suits (aren't specializations supposed to be cheaper?) *the base armor and shield HP are almost halved (250 from 400) *the slot layout is pretty awful. proto only has two highs and one low if i remember correctly *the pg/cpu for fitting is less than the basic
so i ask, does anyone use these suits? |

I've seen two since they came out. It is not a popular suit, with good reason too (as already stated). |

I use the Laser Rifle and Assault Scrambler Rifle and honestly I chose that simply because I'm really big in the Amarr but after playing several matches I think people should really give it a try. The Laser Rifle is fine in my opinion, the iron sights don't bother me whatsoever (and yes, I was there during Chromosome). I am able to run around with the assault scrambler rifle and take out anyone who gets within a decent distance while being able to quickly switch weapons to melt the face off anyone just outside of my range. |

biggest problem is the Suit cost 94,425 ISK alone !!!!!!!!!
if you added 2 Proto Lightweight weapons at either 47k or 77k your already over 218,000 ISK |

sounds kind of over-specialized, mostly because the assault scram does ****-all to armor so it doesn't make a very good cqc panic weapon |

Plus it's not intended as a panic CQC, more of a mid-range weapon while the laser deals with the longer ranges. I try to avoid CQC, not only because I don't carry a true CQC weapon but because I am in a large heavy suit. |

I've been having tons of fun with trololo-Halo-style shotty/snipes and shotty/TAC builds. Shotty/LR works too. Basically, bait them in with your obviously mid to long range limited gun, then sit behind a corner as everyone and their mother comes for your big red heavy suit, which, surprise, is holding a shotgun! Proto suit isn't nearly worth it though, IMO the commando is a for fun only suit, meant to be run at STD for people who want to troll DS3 users with superior KB/M gun game and the perfect weapon for both short and mid (or mid and long) ranges. The main factor (in my brief play experience) that limits the commando is its abysmal shield recharge rate. 10/second is ridiculously bad. I was hoping for a suit the laid heavy penalties on me but rewarded excellent gun game- instead, any clash with an AR has me retreating for 30 seconds while my shields recover. Terrible shield recharge rate, with no slots for armor reppers or recharge boosting, leaves the commando (arguably even at proto level) more fragile (in terms of the kill->recover bounce cycle) than a starter C-1 assault fit. To fellow trollmandos: always run with a compact nanohive, 50hp/s self rep once per clone for minimal pg/cpu and ~900ISK really helps.
TL;DR: it's a terrible suit that's fun to troll with. Definitely deserves to be in the game, it's not teh hardcorez CalLogi competitive but as a casual player I'm loving it. |

CCP do a Rambo heavy suit.
-Double Shied and Armor (800/800) -One High and low slot - One heavy weapon slot and a grenade slot. - 5-10% slowdown on sprinting or less stamina -Never have to reload (only with a HMG) unless the heavy runs out of ammo and need to get more.

Give them an extra couple of module slots, and +50 hp to shields & armour.
The most annoying thing about the recent new content is how determined CCP are to prenerf it. The only thing they succeeded in doing was ensuring nobody would complain it was OP. Ferroscale armour plates anyone?
If CCP isn't going to nerf the stuff that actually needs it, why not be generous with new content, and cycle the OP whine routine. |

This is a heavy suit. You don't move as far as medium suits and you have the largest hitbox. You shouldn't be baiting people into 1v1 close combat with you. You should be rolling with teammates and sort of be the suppressing fire while not making yourself the primary target.
And ok, who am I to tell you how to play a game, but you said it yourself that the 10/second is ridiculous. Perhaps you should of drawn the conclusion that this suit is not meant for going off and doing your own thing rambo style but rather being a versatile asset to a squad. |

Perhaps you should of drawn the conclusion that this suit is not meant for going off and doing your own thing rambo style but rather being a versatile asset to a squad. No argument there- I'm not playing the commando as it was intended, because it's not good enough to fill its "intended" role. That's what makes my commando playstyle trollish. The "intended" playstyle of the commando is not best achieved by the commando. Light weapons only means that the commando's suppressing fire (at any given instant) is the same as an assault/logi suit. The (at proto) 25% reload speed bonus lets you start shooting again ~.5 seconds sooner, but that's just not that great. In terms of rolling with a squad, the heavy movespeed and gimped shield recharge mean that you're inevitably behind or slowing down your squad's battle flow. The only even mildly useful thing is AR/Swarm (or SCR/Swarm, whatever/Swarm) setups, but even that gets outclassed by Swarm/FP assault.
Basically, while my commando playstyle is definitely "wrong", the "right" way of playing the commando is UP in the extreme. leaving troll shotgun commados as the most fun/satisfying option. |

I was pretty excited about the commando suit, and gave it a try. I currently only have Commando at level 1. I do love the speed it takes to reload. At my heavy's current light weapon operation at mostly level 1, I think this is an over looked key feature to its use, being able to reload quickly when in a fire-fight. Commandos are very easy to kill at the moment. When I think "Commando," I think of an high special Ops suit that could help out the team, working solo and squads of 2 or 3 people, being able to cause a huge ruckus, or steal objectives then go. I do not know CCP future plans for the commando but I do hope that they plan to give the commando tier, what l have listed below. I honestly think the groundwork for the Commando is there, its just very hard to grasp it. I understand its slower speed to an extent, and less use of modules. I just have the feeling CCP is holding back a few things, that I am hoping will be Commando suit equipped only, like hybrid modules that boost stats to multiple things within a understandable limit, not making other suits rendered useless.
G¥û Commando Suits need more speed to at least be able to fight off or flee from hostile areas. G¥û Hybrid Commando only modules that give shield and armor recharge rate much faster than medium frames. G¥û More internal stats built into the suits performance similar to the melee stats, like faster hacking speeds. G¥û I am guessing but I can see the cloaking feature being something Commando and Scout only. |
