So I'm not sure why I want to help these people with all their annoying jumping, sneaking, and knifing but here is my idea:
The whole profile damping thing is pretty useless I always just see them running across the open terrain and then I start sniping them.... No need for red chevrons. If they are going to be truly sneaky they need visual camo.... Make them fade out of visual when they stop sprinting if they are more than 200m away.

+1 and thank you, good sir!

Such a stealth buff would greatly help our handful of Scout Snipers and would provide for a much needed new tactic to CQC Scouts. The art of blending in alongside enemy troops ... that's an exciting thought.

Indeed, just yesterday i spent about 20 seconds running along in a blob of reds :) apparently they only shoot you if you shoot them first :)
 How civilized!

If sniper rifles weren't so dang hard to use I would disagree.

Hmmm would other scouts still be able to see cloaked players? If so then more snipers would play scout and this would make for easier counter sniping (one shot kills). This would in turn put a bigger weigh on your choice of drop suits when building a sniper.

 1) Choose scout suit and see other scouts but become easy to kill by counter snipers that do the same.
 2) Choose basic/assault suit and become blind to roaming scouts and scout snipers but be able to take more hits.

For the red chevrons, may I direct you to LOS - making precision and profile matter.

About the visual camo, perhaps tie it in with the above and make it so that it that if an enemy has a lower scan profile than your scan precision at the range the enemy is at, they are invisible to you? In other words, the farther away an enemy is, the harder they are to see.

This would mean assault/logi snipers would slightly edge out scout snipers in general sniping due to having higher eHP and more module slots while scout snipers will excel at being counter-snipers
  and perhaps long range sniping.
Of course for the range detection to be balanced so that logi/assault snipers aren't forced too close to the action to be effective but scout snipers get a definite range where they have an advantage, maps will need to be bigger and sniper rifle ranges will need to be increased. But that could come later...

 Just an idea.

Yes, that is an interesting angle. I didn't think of that; that would be cool.
And yes sniping is frigging hard... Except then I started using keyboard and mouse and it was MUCH easier

I used to play wolfenstien enemy territory, there was a covert ops class that could disguise themselfs as the enemy

thread just made me think of it, could be handy for scouts, maybe the scanner could detect \ show enemy scouts for a little balance or whatnot

Thus wasting their ammo which is very dangerous to a sniper even when loaded with nanohives.
