Well I mean dropships are probably the weakest vehicle. They were alright last build because you could get some good mods on it but with the CPU and PG Skills gone/nerf its hard. |

I've flown most of the old dropships, and haven't tried anything new this build. They still strike me as expendable, so I don't put money into them and fly militia ships with torque upgrades. at that price I don't mind as much when they die, and they still do their job. There have been several matches where having one has turned the game when getting somewhere critical has been accomplished by a blown up dropship. I am not the kind of pilot to sink isk into a beefed up ship, only to be shot down at the slightest provocation, all while doing nothing I couldn't already do in a viper.
hopefully CCP will read the "redsign dropships" thread and rethink their approach. Then we'll see another layer of gameplay. |

I hated being shot by redline rail gun tanks so much, that I became one myself... Now I realise how fun it is to kill dropships
I'm kidding, I have become totally anti tank, but you can't kill tanks in a drop ship if they are redlined, so I use a railgun tank now. I know gameplay will eventually evolve into this rock, paper, scissors gameplay when we all skill up, but yeah, I think less damage and more 'bump' on dropships are needed. I love being shot off course by different weapons, It's hilarious what the flay lock does to dropships. I think forges and rails should have the same, but greater, bumping effect on dropships. |

Would make some sense they could have a conversion rate for incoming damage INTO "bump".
Imagine if a very slow object pushed into the ship, the ship would just move instead of explode. Perhaps with armor and shields some of the impact could get converted into inertia rather than all ripping right through to the hull.

I have practically everything I can get for tanks, also have lots of points into logi lavs. its just something new to try. I will not kill myself. |

There are countless threads where pilots like me and many others have asked for clear answers as to the future for Dropships, and have put forth many suggestions for improvements, but as far as the past 6 months have indicated, CCP isn't really listening to our complaints and feedback. Making a thread like this asking that they tell us what their plans are will ultimately do nothing unfortunately, i wish it did, but this has been attempted countless amounts of times in other threads to no avail. |

If you're talking about constantly asking about the plans of CCP, I'm just letting you know, I have even had Devs reply to my dropship thread that's more than 10 pages long, with tons of good suggestions as to what needs to be fixed, and so far they haven't addressed literally any of those concerns. Looking at the dev replies, even they have no idea what the next updates are going to contain, because they practically promised it would all be handled and taken care of very soon, and that was about 5 months ago. |

This is a direct quote from CCP Blam on my thread:
"3. As one of our immediate tasks, we want to look at how we can provide dropship pilots with more chances to earn WP. We have lots of ideas in mind, however we need to tread carefully on this one so that we're not opening up too many opportunities for exploit. Some of the ideas that are bouncing around are providing WP for players spawned into your craft, WP for use of active scanners (possibly more specialized ones), and finding a way to re-introduce WP for remote repairs without exploit." |

Exploit my butt, even if the dropship could be used to sit in the redline collecting wp's, afking would still be a better option. Even the cpm thread had zero participation or results from Ccp. |

Dropships are great, you just need a gunner who tells you where you have to fly (because sometimes you see nothing) You can also kill tanks with dropships, but don't get hit by them :D

1. please don't bring up really old threads. 2. Congrats you played a game with few av players on the field, so have I. 3. I have said before in other threads(please don't resurrect) that the dropships have the ability to decimate infantry and vehicles, but are overall too weak for the cost they have. I have pulled out higher kill games solo in my ads so i know they are powerful, but you got quite lucky this game. With no real forge or swarm threat, on the ground or the towers.

again look at the date..... its from a awhile ago. You don't have to tell me they are fine or that im not using them correctly. Im quite skilled with them and I, along with other good pilots would tell you that one assault forgeguner has the ability to shut down any effective dropship play. Same with redline tanks

thats true, but don't forget that 1 dropship have the ability to shut down any effective "ground" play. if you watch my video there is a situation where we get a lot of kills near a CRU. They didn't have any chance to hide or kill us, so i think it's just fair that also 1 or 2 player with a forgegun or a railgun tank can completely ruin our game. when we are using dropships in the ambush game mode we lose maybe 1 per 15 games (mostly against forge gunners when i hang around like a pinata :) so we make ISK with it and don't lose it.
Dropships are fine. |

Thats my Prometheus fitting:
2x AT-1 Fragmented Missile Launcher
1x Light Converse Shield Booster 1x Militia Afterburner
1x Beta Powergrid Expansion Unit 1x 60mm Reinforced Polycrystalline Plates 1x Energized Nanite Plating 1x Light Efficient Armor Repair Unit
I'm very happy with that fitting, price is 520.075 ISK. You should never fly a dropship without an afterburner. |
